James signed a 10-day hardship deal with the Pelicans on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
James spent the past two seasons in Sacramento before being cut loose in August. After brief stints in training camp with Utah and Cleveland, he opened the season in the G League with the Cavaliers' affiliate, the Cleveland Charge. In 14 games in the G League, James averaged 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 minutes per contest. He'll provide the Pelicans with some depth on the wing in the short term with Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Kira Lewis (knee) out for the season and Didi Louzada serving a suspension.
