Hart and the Pelicans are nearing an agreement on a three-year, $38 million contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hart is a restricted free agent, so the thought all along was that the Pelicans would eventually come to terms with the Villanova product on a new contract. It appears as though the two sides have settled on a deal that will pay Hart nearly $13 million annually through the 2023-24 campaign. In his second year with the Pelicans last season, Hart averaged 9.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 32.6 percent from beyond the arc. With Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson firmly entrenched at both forward spots, Hart will likely serve as the Pelicans' sixth man, though it's possible he could push for the starting two-guard spot should the team opt to go with a bigger lineup.
