Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy confirmed that Blake would serve as the team's top backup at point guard to open the season, Keith Langlois of Pistons.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite seeing limited time in the preseason due to complications from a concussion, Blake earned the second-unit role primarily as a result of second-year man Spencer Dinwiddie's struggles during the exhibition slate. The 35-year-old Blake isn't expected to see a huge load of minutes behind Reggie Jackson at point guard, but should effectively direct the Pistons' offense when called upon from the bench.
