McDermott has been placed in the NBA's concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head during Monday's win over the Nets, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

It's unclear when, exactly, McDermott sustained the concussion, but it doesn't appear to be overly severe, as coach Fred Hoiberg said the team is hopeful to have McDermott available Wednesday against the Celtics. In the event that McDermott, who scored 12 points in 24 minutes Monday, is ultimately ruled out, rookie Denzel Valentine would likely be thrust into a slightly larger role.
