Mahinmi will remain on a restriction of roughly 12-14 minutes Thursday against the Pacers, but he plans to increase his workload after the All-Star break, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mahinmi said Wednesday that the plan is for him to continue to play it safe for the time being, but he should begin to approach, or even exceed, 20 minutes on a regular basis after the break. The Wizards brought Mahinmi in as a free agent with the intention to use him as the first big man off the bench. To date, his ailing knees have only allowed him to appear in four games, but going forward he should be ready to serve as the primary backup to Marcin Gortat. Last season, as a member of the Pacers, Mahinmi averaged 9.3 points and 7.1 rebounds in just under 26 minutes per game.
