Jones (pectoral) is progressing in his recovery from injury, but isn't expected to be available for the start of training camp, Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones required surgery in mid-June to address a torn pectoral muscle, but that didn't deter the Warriors from selecting the center from Vanderbilt with the final pick of the first round in the 2016 NBA Draft. Though he's since resumed lifting weights, Jones has yet to get back on the court for workouts. While Jones' injury could delay his availability once the season begins, the Warriors aren't counting on the 21-year-old to claim meaningful minutes as a rookie anyway. In fact, Jones will likely spent a good chunk of the season in the D-League once he's healthy again.
