Jason Maxiell and the Magic have agreed on a two-year, $5 million contract. The second year is a team option. Orlando views Maxiell as a backup who can play both PF and C, and they surely hope that his blue-collar work ethic rubs off on their young guys. He averaged 6.9 points and a career-high 5.7 rebounds with Detroit last year, before his season ended due to eye surgery.
