Gasol finished with 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 95-89 preseason win over the Magic.
EDGE Analysis
There was some confusion heading into the game whether or not Gasol would even play in the contest, but he retained his starting spot at center and submitted his best performance to date in a Spurs uniform. The assist production was especially good to see from Gasol, and his passing skills and ability to knock down jumpers should make him an ideal fit on the offensive end alongside LaMarcus Aldridge. Gasol has his limitations as a defender, however, so coach Gregg Popovich could turn to backup center DeWayne Dedmon more often when the Spurs are opposing a talented back-to-the-basket big man.
