Coach Mike Budenholzer said Friday that Tyus Jones will begin the year in the starting five, leaving Allen (ankle) to come off the bench, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Allen is expected to retreat to the bench in favor of Jones, who will start in the backcourt alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Allen made 75 regular-season appearances (74 starts) last season and averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists across 33.5 minutes per game. The 28-year-old also shot a career-high 46.1 percent from three-point range last season, and he will likely serve as a crucial offensive spark off the bench.
