Evans has been diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery to address the injury, Earl Sneed of Mavs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mavericks first reported at the beginning of the week that Evans picked up a shoulder injury, but didn't specify the severity of the ailment. Based on this report, it appears that Evans was dealing with something more serious than simple soreness, so he'll go under the knife in an attempt to rectify the issue. While he an official timetable for his return hasn't been issued, it's expected that Evans will be back at full strength for training camp. The Mavericks may be reluctant to bring him back in 2016-17, however, as the athletic big man struggled to crack the rotation in his first season with the team. He averaged just 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds over 8.4 minutes in his 30 appearances.
