Darren Collison signs three-year, $16 million deal for the mid-level exception with the Kings. This deal has been roundly criticized around the league because it highlighted the front office's curious lack of appreciation for previous starter Isaiah Thomas, who is much better than Collison in just about every facet of the game. The controversy has also been fueled by the team pinning its overall problems with passing and defense onto Thomas, particularly when he shouldered so much load last year and was their best community guy -- while the city struggled to convince locals to finance a new arena that ultimately kept the team in town. Collison has said that the Kings are going to give him the keys to the team, so we expect him to start, but Ray McCallum could push him for playing time.
