Bass will decline his player option to remain with the Lakers for the 2016-17 season, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bass can opt in for just over $3 million next season, but after a frustrating season with a poor Lakers team, the veteran will hit the open market, likely seeking a multi-year deal. With the salary cap set to expand, Bass, who's still only 30 years old, should be able to land a more lucrative deal, despite failing to start a game in 2015-16 for the first time since 2008-09. Bass closed the season with averages of 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game.
