Allen scored 16 points (7-17 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-5 FT) to go along with eight rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block in 33 minutes during the Grizzlies' 93-85 win over the Cavaliers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't an efficient offensive performance, but Allen continues to impress overall. Not only is he averaging a career-best 5.1 rebounds, he is also posting more points per game than he has since 2006-07 while playing more minutes than he has since back in 2012-13. Even at 34 years of age, Allen is still one of the league's top perimeter defenders, and Marc Gasol's migration to the three-point line on offense has helped open up space, allowing Allen to wreak havoc on the interior (where he is much more comfortable). Given that Mike Conley (back) and Chandler Parsons (knee) figure to remain sidelined for at least the next several weeks, Allen will likely continue to be relied on fairly heavily going forward.
