Allen (knee) is nearing a return to full strength, Pete Wickham of The Commercial Appeal reports. Coach David Fizdale said, "He looked good, and I think he's getting close. I don't want to say there's guarantees (about when will be back), but he went through the whole practice today and all of yesterday. We don't go for continuous long stretches of time, but he's looking better, and I'm hoping we get him back soon."
EDGE Analysis
Allen logged his first full practice Saturday after missing the final three games of the Grizzlies' preseason schedule. It remains to be seen if he'll be cleared for Wednesday's preseason opener against the Timberwolves, but as it currently stands, Allen is trending in the right direction. As long as there isn't significant swelling and pain in his knee, Allen should continue to be a full participant in practice throughout the week and will likely have a final decision on his status for the opener following the team's morning shootaround Wednesday. Allen is slated to begin the 2016-17 campaign as the Grizzlies' starting shooting guard.
