"We have to be versatile and be ready for today's NBA."

Ellenson had a rough shooting night last Wednesday while draining only three of 17 shots against Minnesota, but he was much sharper Saturday, adding to what has been a strong summer league resume overall. The third-year big man is now averaging 14.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals across 30.4 minutes over five games, perhaps giving him some momentum as he heads into his fourth training camp with the Pistons.

Ellenson finished with seven points (3-17 FG, 1-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, two steals and an assist across 25 minutes during Wednesday's 64-59 summer league win over Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis

Ellenson, a third-year big out of Marquette, hasn't been shy about firing away during summer league. But, the shots aren't falling. Across three games, Ellenson is 13-for-50 (26.0) percent from the field and 3-for-22 (13.6 percent) from distance. Ellenson has played just 475 minutes for the Pistons during his career and is continuing to work things out for a third year of summer league, which is generally not a good sign.

Ellenson had 13 points (5-12 FG, 1-5 3PT, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in Monday's summer league win over the Pelicans.

EDGE Analysis

The Pistons have been handing the reins over to Ellenson on the offensive end, the Marquette product has embraced the increased responsibility, though he hasn't played overly efficient basketball. Ellenson shot just 5-of-21 from the field in Saturday's loss to Memphis, and he committed six turnovers in 26 minutes Monday.

Ellenson scored a team-high 15 points (5-21 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 4-6 FT) to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block across 34 minutes during Saturday's 73-70 summer league loss to the Grizzlies.

Though he led the team in scoring, Ellenson was bricking from beyond the arc and even had seven turnovers. This season marks Ellenson's third try at summer league, which is generally not a great sign for developing players. The former 18th overall pick out of Marquette played just 329 minutes last season, and is unlikely to move up on the depth chart if performances like this continue.
