After starting and playing 16 minutes during the team's preseason opener Tuesday, Allen has been dealing with left knee soreness and will be held out of Friday's contest. This is the Duke product's first season in Milwaukee, and his next chance to return to the lineup comes Sunday against the Thunder.

Allen seemed to suffer an injury after the Bucks' preseason matchup at Memphis on Tuesday. He supplied an excellent effort, 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt) and three rebounds across 17 game minutes.

Allen was traded to the Bucks from the Grizzlies on Friday in exchange for Sam Merrill and two future second-round picks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Grizzlies were seemingly trying to move Allen before having to make any sort of decision on his contract when he becomes a restricted free agent in the summer of 2022. Regardless, Allen will provide nice depth on the wing for the Bucks, whose bench looked quite thin during the playoffs. Allen saw 25.2 minutes per game last season and averaged 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists. There's potential for him to see that kind of run in Milwaukee while backing up Donte DiVincenzo and Khris Middleton, though Allen will have to fight off Pat Connaughton and Rodney Hood for reserve wing minutes.

A first-round pick of the Jazz in 2018, Allen struggled to settle in against his former team and finished as a game-worst minus-23 in 19 minutes of action. Allen missed all six of his attempts from the field, including a pair of key three-pointers on a night when Memphis hit just eight threes as a team. For most of the season, Allen has shared minutes with Desmond Bane (24 minutes in Game 2) and De'Anthony Melton (17), and that will likely continue to be the case for the duration of Round 1.

After missing the Grizzlies' final seven regular-season games with a left abdominal strain, Allen filled only a minor bench role in his return to action. Allen's playing time could ramp up a bit Friday, when the Grizzlies face the Warriors in the final game of the play-in tournament. Even if that's the case, Allen likely won't get enough playing time to make for an appealing option in DFS contests.
