Earl Boykins is hoping for another shot in the NBA this season. The miniature point guard is working out in Denver and "waiting for a call," but his market has been dry to date after playing last season with the Rockets.

The Rockets will sign Earl Boykins for the rest of the season. The pint-sized point guard won't carry any fantasy value.

Rockets signed G Earl Boykins to a second 10-day contract. Boykins will remain with the Rockets for at least another 10 days with Kyle Lowry (bacterial infection) still sidelined.

Earl Boykins will sign another 10-day contract with the Rockets on Thursday. It's unclear if Boykins will eventually be re-signed for the duration of the season, as that probably depends upon whether (or how soon) Kyle Lowry returns from his bacterial infection.

Earl Boykins didn't waste any time after being signed by the Rockets to a 10-day contract on Monday, scoring 10 points on 2-of-6 shooting (6-of-6 from the foul line) with one rebound, five assists, and a steal in 22 minutes off the bench. Should Goran Dragic's ankle injury worsen overnight, then Boykins could have some spot-starting value on Tuesday against the Mavs. Dragic was pretty expressive about playing on Tuesday after the game.

Rockets agreed to terms with PG Earl Boykins on a 10-day contract, a source tells Yahoo. With Kyle Lowry (bacterial infection) nowhere near a return and Kevin Martin (shoulder) also sidelined, the Rockets are desperate. The 5'5/133 Boykins has been out of the league all season, but did manage 7.2 points per game in 57 appearances with the Bucks last season. He'll be support behind Goran Dragic and Courtney Lee.

Earl Boykins has been working as an assistant coach for the Colorado Miners, an inner-city boys' basketball team, during the lockout. Boykins' deal with the Bucks has expired, but it's possible that he could still latch onto an NBA roster as a backup guard. The second-shortest person ever to play in the NBA, at 5'5", he's no stranger to overcoming adversity.

Veteran guard Earl Boykins, who had his first summer league canceled by the 1998 lockout, said that the lockout is hardest on young players. "You can work out all you want," said Boykins. "You can even work out against NBA guys. But until you get into an NBA training camp situation, it's totally different." NBA rookies already trend toward inconsistency, and this summer's lack of interaction with teammates and coaches certainly won't help.
