Derrick Williams (mouth) will start in place of Rudy Gay on Monday. He'll get a very friendly matchup against the Jazz and looks like he'll have one more good game in him. Gay almost played in this game, so chances are Williams' fantasy value will take a hit on Wednesday vs. Memphis.

Derrick Williams didn't return to Sunday's game after being hit in the mouth, leaving his status for Monday's game uncertain. Williams started at SF in place of Rudy Gay (Achilles) and finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block in 32 minutes. The injury likely required stitches but it didn't seem major, and he'd be worth a spot-start if Gay doesn't travel with the team for Monday's game. Owners need to be on the lookout for medical updates.

Derrick Williams started for Rudy Gay (Achilles) in Friday's overtime loss to the Pacers, scoring seven points on 2-of-9 shooting with 11 rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes. In fairness to Williams on a pedestrian night the Pacers match up real well with him, and also in fairness to Williams he did a decent job slowing them down defensively with his athleticism. Williams was called for the foul on Paul George's 4-point play, which was indeed a foul but just way before George ever thought about shooting. With Gay's injury not appearing to be serious, Williams is only a mid-to-low level short-term pickup.

The Sacramento Bee expects Derrick Williams to be the biggest beneficiary of Rudy Gay's heel injury. Gay is going to be in a walking boot for 3-5 days and then have his left Achilles' tendon reevaluated. DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) is also in a walking boot and on crutches. It opens up a monster opportunity for Williams, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft who is still just 22 years old. In seven starts for the Kings so far this season, he's averaged 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.4 3-pointers. He has the skill to do more however, as evidenced by the 22 points and 11 boards he put up in 40 minutes off the bench on Wednesday. There's plug-n-play appeal here as long as owners realize Williams has to face the Pacers' dominant defense Friday night. Offensively challenged Aaron Gray is expected to start in place of Cousins.

Both Rudy Gay (Achilles) and DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) went down with potentially serious injuries tonight, meaning Williams could be ready to see some ridiculous minutes. He'll lose a lot of a appeal if Gay and Cousins aren't expected to miss much time, but if they're going to be out, Williams looks like an excellent pick up right now.

Derrick Williams came off the bench for 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal on 7-of-11 shooting in 28 minutes on Wednesday. Williams is now averaging 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last five games, meaning deep-league owners in need of a warm body should take notice.

Williams had an outstanding windmill hammer dunk and generally played well, but we have to be real and point out that the Magic were awful tonight and Williams cut down on the mental and defensive mistakes. He has very little margin for error and Carl Landry will be returning soon, so Williams can be left on waivers in most formats.

Derrick Williams is averaging just 4.0 field goal attempts over the last nine games. The Rudy Gay trade buried Williams. It's reached the point where he's barely even an asset off the bench for the Kings. "I've got to try to get him some more looks so he can play and be aggressive," coach Michael Malone said. "It's been real tough on Derrick, but I know he's going to keep on competing."

Derrick Williams played just 12 minutes against the Magic on Saturday with one point and three boards. He has fallen off a cliff with his third consecutive dud and is losing most of his luster with his new team. Williams owners can start looking elsewhere, especially since the eventual return of Carl Landry won't help Williams' case for minutes.

Derrick Williams had another quiet night with seven points on 3-of-5 shooting, two rebounds, three assists and three steals in 27 minutes off the bench on Friday. The three steals are pretty misleading as defensive numbers aren't really in his repertoire, and it's becoming pretty clear that he's going to struggle to produce now that Rudy Gay is around. The Kings aren't done trading and Jason Thompson is the guy they want to get rid of, but that's not set in stone and Williams has been pretty awful at anything but dunking. He's a low-level stash at best.
