Wright will start at shooting guard for the Pistons on Friday, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Wright, who was traded to Detroit just a few weeks ago, will open the preseason as the team's starting shooting guard alongside backcourt mate and rookie Killian Hayes. The 28-year-old guard hasn't often been a starter during regular season NBA action, so he could be in for a career year if he retains this role.

Wright was traded to the Pistons on Saturday as part of a three-team deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Mavericks got James Johnson and the Thunder got Trevor Ariza, Justin Jackson and a draft pick.

Wright, a 28-year-old combo guard, saw 21.5 minutes per game last season with the Mavericks, averaging 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals. Given how thin the Pistons' roster is, it's possible he sees an expanded role, and he could start. If that's the case, he could hold some relevance in standard leagues, but Wright shouldn't be drafted as someone more than a late-round flier.

Wright has been traded to the Thunder along with Justin Jackson in exchange for James Johnson, Mark Stein of The New York Times reports.

Wright will be leaving a crowded backcourt in Dallas and will get an opportunity with a young Thunder squad. He averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 triples across 21.5 minutes in 73 games with the Mavericks last season. He now projects as either a starter in Oklahoma City alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the backcourt or one of the first players off the bench.

Wright (coach's decision) did not see the floor during Sunday's 135-133 Game 4 overtime win against the Clippers.

EDGE Analysis

Wright had combined to play 32 minutes through the first three games of this first round playoff series. Trey Burke (ankle) has stepped up offensively while Wright doesn't pose much of a threat as a scorer from beyond the arc. As a result, Wright may not be all that involved going forward in these playoffs.

Wright contributed 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block in 28 minutes during the Mavericks' 113-97 Wednesday night victory versus the Nuggets.

EDGE Analysis

Wright finished as a team-high plus-27 off the bench Wednesday. He had strong fantasy numbers in Memphis to close last season and is connecting on career-best percentages from the field as well as from beyond the arc this season in Dallas. Wright is a name to remember in case of future injuries or an offseason trade.

Wright recorded four points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in 32 minutes during Sunday's 111-91 win over the Timberwolves.

EDGE Analysis

Wright filled in as the starting point guard with Luka Doncic (thumb) sidelined, and while he struggled from the field, he turned in a very well-rounded stat line overall. It's unclear whether Doncic will remain sidelined for Monday's matchup versus the Bulls, but if so Wright would once again make for a sneaky cheap choice in daily leagues.

Wright will start at point guard Sunday against the Timberwolves.

EDGE Analysis

He'll move up to the top unit for the fifth time this season, replacing Luka Doncic (thumb) as the Mavericks begin the front end of a back-to-back set. Doncic could be available Monday in Chicago, but Wright should at least make for an appealing, low-cost option in DFS contests for one day while he likely take on a greater share of minutes. Over his previous four starts this season, Wright is averaging 5.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 three-pointer in 25.5 minutes.

Wright (ankle) logged 26 minutes and finished with six points (1-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block Wednesday in the Mavericks' 130-111 win over the Kings.

EDGE Analysis

Listed as probable heading into the day with the sprained right ankle, Wright was cleared to play in advance of tipoff and actually picked up his most minutes since Feb. 1, despite the fact that Dallas welcomed Luka Doncic (ankle) back from a seven-game absence. Wright was able to tick off most categories on the box score in the Mavs' final game before the All-Star break, but the overall volume was still relatively muted. Wright didn't exactly dazzle while Doncic was sidelined at the start of the month, so now that Dallas is at full strength in the backcourt, the 27-year-old can probably be safely dropped in 12-team leagues.

Wright (ankle) is available for Wednesday's game against the Kings.

Wright sprained his ankle during Monday's game against the Jazz but will play through the issue Wednesday as expected. Across six games in February, Wright is averaging 6.7 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 21.8 minutes.
