Although he coughed up the ball a team-high six times, Hunter led the Hawks in scoring. He converted over 50 percent of his shots and registered decent numbers in almost every category. The Virginia product is remarkably consistent through 13 games and is equally effective at the perimeter and under the rim.

Hunter totaled 15 points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT) and six rebounds Saturday in a loss to Portland.

The sophomore swingman continues to post solid but unspectacular numbers, notching double-digit scoring in each of his 12 contests this season and averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. Perhaps most impressively, he has raised his field-goal percentage nine points to an even 50 percent and elevated his rate from the charity stripe over 10 percentage points to 86.7 percent.

Hunter tallied 15 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal over 23 minutes in Monday's 112-94 win over the 76ers.

No Hawks starter played more than 26 minutes and four players off the bench played more than 20 minutes as the Hawks were up 15 at halftime and 32 going into the fourth quarter. Hunter was tied for second on the team in scoring, only behind Trae Young. Hunter has not scored less than 15 points in six 2021 games while shooting a tick under 56 percent from the floor.

Hunter recorded 20 points (6-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 7-7 FT), eight rebounds, an assist, two blocks and a steal across 34 minutes in Saturday's loss against the Hornets.

There's no question Trae Young is the undisputed leader in the Hawks offense, but Hunter has been delivering impressive performances of late and has reached the 20-point mark in three of his last five contests. In fact, the second-year guard has scored at least 11 points in every game he's played this season and is averaging 16.4 points per contest.

Hunter scored 23 points (9-15 FG, 3-6 3PT, 2-3 FT) to go along with eight rebounds, one assist and one block across 37 minutes in Monday's loss to the Knicks.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter showed the ability to finish both at the rim and from distance in another strong showing. While his usage remains similar to that of his rookie campaign, Hunter's true shooting and effective field goal percentage have bother skyrocketed early in his sophomore season. While there's plenty of time for those numbers to tumble, Hunter appears to have taken a sizable step forward early on.

Hunter generated 17 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five assists, four rebounds and a blocked shot across 31 minutes in Saturday's 96-91 loss to the Cavaliers.

EDGE Analysis

Although he's already rostered in deeper leagues, the absence of Danilo Gallinari (ankle) gives Hunter more opportunities, and he's currently jumping off the waiver wire. We saw his talent on display during his rookie season, but his starting role seemed to be in jeopardy with the addition of Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Hunter has managed to stave off their presence on the depth chart with excellent play throughout the first two weeks of the season.
