Hunter has scored in double digits in every game this season but sits outside the top 250 in 12-team leagues. While the point production is nice, his inability to contribute elsewhere drags down his overall appeal. He is still rostered in a number of leagues but should be viewed as no better than a streaming asset.

Hunter scored nine of his 22 points in the fourth quarter on 4-of-6 shooting from the field while also recording a steal off Jordan Clarkson midway through the period to help bring the Hawks back within two. Despite Hunter's solid play down the stretch, Atlanta saw its three-game winning streak come to an end after allowing Utah to score 40 points in the final quarter and overtake the lead. It was only the third time this season that Hunter reached the 20-point mark, and the second time in his last four games.

Hunter racked up 21 points (9-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 112-99 win over the Knicks.

Hunter turned in his second-best scoring performance of the young campaign, but he also attempted his most field goals of the year. Despite a rough night from the field, he did manage to record his first block of the season, a category he hasn't traditionally contributed in. Hunter averaged just 0.4 blocks over 53 games during the 2021-22 season.

Hunter fouled out of Wednesday's 118-113 win over the Pistons after recording 17 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter shot the ball well in the win, continuing what has been a solid offensive start to the season. Unfortunately, as is often the case with Hunter, he failed to add anything of note to his stat sheet. While he can certainly be classed as an above-average wing defender, his efforts do not typically translate well when it comes to fantasy value. He is fine to have on a 12-team roster but given what we have seen in the past, he is better suited as a streamer.

Hunter and the Hawks agreed on a four-year, $95 million contract extension Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

The 24-year-old forward and Atlanta were able to agree upon a deal just before the contract extension deadline. Hunter has averaged 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game over the course of his first three seasons with the Hawks. With the Virginia product's contract situation officially taken care of, Hunter and the Hawks can now focus all their attention on Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Rockets.

Hunter stepped things up on offense, something the coaching staff will be hoping he can do more often. Despite a few flashes over the past couple of seasons, Hunter is yet to establish himself as a must-roster fantasy asset. A lack of efficient scoring often offsets his proven ability on the defensive end. If he can finally put it all together this season, he could be a name to consider.

Hunter's 35 points represented both a regular-season and playoff career high, though arguably the most impactful performance of his career couldn't end in a Hawks victory, and Atlanta's season came to a close in a 4-1 series defeat to the Heat. His regular season had its ups and downs, but the third-year wing scored at least 14 points in each playoff game and combined for 59 points across Games 4 and 5. Hunter will attempt to enter a crucial fourth season completely healthy in hopes of continuing his development.
