Metu saw 14 minutes in the loss, up from the 11 he played in the last game. While he did have a few bright spots last season, his role moving forward remains clouded, to say the least. He is well off the fantasy radar right now but should his playing time continue to increase, he could be a name to consider in deeper formats.

Metu had his $1.9 million team option picked up by the Kings on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Metu was a starter during the early portion of the 2021-22 season before shifting to more of a reserve role, averaging 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds across 21.3 minutes per contest in his fourth NBA season. With the Kings selecting Keegan Murray with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 Draft, Metu will likely be competing for minutes as a reserve behind Domantas Sabonis and others in Sacramento's frontcourt for 2022-23.

Metu logged nine points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 10 rebounds and one steal over 21 minutes during Saturday's 117-98 loss to the Clippers.

Metu delivered the team's best rebound total in the loss, joining Damian Jones as Sacramento's answer amid Domantas Sabonis' (knee) absence. The USC product has played his way into a role with the Kings next season, although he'll be stuck behind Saboonis if both players remain with the team.

Metu was electric off the bench Wednesday, knocking down looks around the basket and tough jumpers alike. Although he can be inefficient at times, Metu averages 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per 36 minutes this season. With Domantas Sabonis (knee) out, Metu is immediately worth monitoring in standard leagues.

Metu scored in double digits for the first time since Feb. 16 and it was also the first time he played more than 20 minutes off the bench since Feb. 8 in a loss against the Timberwolves. Due to the lack of involvement he's had in recent weeks, he's not expected to deliver these numbers on a regular basis going forward.

Metu will come off the bench Saturday against the Wizards, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.

With Marvin Bagley (ankle) sidelined, several big men in the rotation needed to pick things up, and Metu was the biggest beneficiary. Metu was instrumental to Sacramento's production throughout January but regressed a bit after two absences last week. The new injury scenario provides a better opportunity for Metu, who should be considered in deep formats while Bagley is out.
