Martin agreed to a contract Friday with the D-League's Iowa Energy, international basketball writer David Pick reports.
EDGE Analysis
After getting waived by the Pistons in training camp last fall, Martin spent the entire 2015-16 campaign with the Energy, averaging 20.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The 31-year-old is a veteran of 243 NBA games and could earn a promotion back to the game's highest level later this season when injuries inevitably take their toll on backcourts across the league.

Martin was waived by the Pistons on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Martin appeared in only 23 games last season, averaging 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in just under nine minutes per game. The Pistons also waived Jordan Bachynski and Adonis Thomas on Friday, meaning they'll have to make one more subtraction before the start of the regular season.

EDGE Analysis
Martin was limited to shooting with his left hand during Monday's practice as a result of the injury. It's uncertain if he'll be able to heal up in time to make a serious run at an opening-night roster spot with the Pistons.

Martin missed his second straight preseason game Thursday due to a right wrist injury, MLive.com's Aaron McCann reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martin is one of several players in contention for the 15th and final spot on the Pistons' roster, so he'll likely need to get back on the court quickly in order to demonstrate to the coaching staff that he's the most qualified man for the job. The 30-year-old appeared in 23 games for Detroit last season, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.

Martin has officially exercised his $1.3 million player option to remain with Detroit for the 2015-16 season, Shams Charania of RealGM reports. It was presumably an easy decision for Martin, whose deal will now be guaranteed for next season. After playing sparingly in just 23 games in 2014-15, Martin likely would have had trouble finding guaranteed money elsewhere. The Kansas State product will return to the Pistons in a similar role, primarily providing wing depth off the bench.

Martin appeared in 23 games for the Pistons in 2014-15, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 rebound sin 8.6 minutes. Playing for his fourth team in three seasons, Martin primarily provided frontcourt depth and saw double-digit minutes in only nine contests. In such a small sample of minutes, it's difficult to judge Martin's season, though he struggled shooting the ball, posting a field goal percentage of 28.3 (15-of-53) while connecting on only 6-of-33 three-point attempts. Martin is a career 37.2 percent shooter from the perimeter, however, so this season's numbers look like an anomaly. The Kansas State product holds a $1.27 million player option for next season, and it seems likely that he'll exercise it rather than chance his luck landing a guaranteed deal as a free agent. If Martin returns in 2015-16, he'll likely hold down a similar role as one of the last forward off the bench.

Martin (ankle) returned to action Friday, playing 16 minutes off the bench against the Bulls.Martin missed three shots, two of them three-pointers, in the game. Other than those misses, his only entries into the box score were a pair of turnovers and a pair of personal fouls. Martin can be safely ignored in virtually all fantasy formats.

Martin (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Spurs, Dave Pemberton of the Oakland Press reports.Martin will miss a second straight game, but he's been relegated to garbage time for much of the season, so his absence doesn't carry major fantasy ramifications.
