Cunningham won't play Sunday against the Nets due to right ankle injury management.
EDGE Analysis
After missing the Pistons' first four games while recovering from a right ankle sprain, the No. 1 overall pick had a rocky NBA debut in Saturday's 110-103 win over the Magic, producing just two points on 1-for-8 shooting from the field in 19 minutes. Cunningham appears to have come out of that contest without any setbacks to his sprained ankle, but the Pistons will nonetheless take a cautious approach with the prized rookie by holding him out of the second half of a back-to-back set. Cunningham should be ready to go for the Pistons' subsequent game against the Bucks on Tuesday, when he could see his playing time creep up closer to the 25-minute mark.

Cunningham (ankle) recorded two points (1-8 FG, 0-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists and one block across 19 minutes Saturday in the Pistons' 110-103 win over the Magic.
EDGE Analysis
In his widely anticipated NBA debut, Cunningham, who missed the Pistons' first four games of the season with an ankle injury, looked predictably rusty. While playing under a minute restriction, Cunningham failed to get to the free-throw line and made his lone bucket on a layup, but he at least offered some solid contributions on the defensive end. Fantasy managers should remain patient with Cunningham while his playing-time limit remains in place, but once the ankle injury is further in the rear-view mirror, he should emerge as one of the Pistons' top scorers and distributors.

Cunningham (ankle) will make his NBA debut Saturday against the Magic, Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reports. He'll be on a limit of 20-25 minutes limit, with coach Dwane Casey joking, "I'll be arrested if I play him past a certain amount."
EDGE Analysis
The Pistons have been cautious with bringing the No. 1 overall pick back from a sprained ankle, but he'll finally be making his NBA debut. Chances are, he'll join the starting five, but his upside for this game is relatively low given his minutes cap. The Pistons' offense is in desperate need of a punch that Cunningham may be able to provide.

Cunningham (ankle) is not on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against the Magic, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
While it's not officially confirmed that Cunningham will make his debut Saturday, it's a great sign that he's not on the injury report. If he plays, there's a chance he'll be on a minutes limit, as the Pistons have been very cautious with him since he sprained his ankle. The expectation should be that Cunningham joins the starting five at shooting guard, pushing Josh Jackson to the bench.

Cunningham (ankle) will practice with the Pistons on Friday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cunningham has been practicing with the G League's Motor City Cruise, and Friday will be his first chance to practice with the Pistons since he sprained his right ankle. We may learn more after that. He currently doesn't have a timetable for a return, but it's encouraging that he's ramping up his activity.

Cunningham (ankle), who is out for the Pistons' road trip, will scrimmage with the G League's Motor City Cruise, Johnny Kane of Bally Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit's medical staff wants to get Cunningham as close to 100 percent as possible before making his debut. Scrimmaging with the G League will help Cunningham test his sprained right ankle and get his wind back. His first chance to take the court for the Pistons will be Oct. 30 against the Magic when the team returns from the road trip.

General manager Troy Weaver said Wednesday that Cunningham (ankle) likely won't make his debut until after the Pistons' upcoming three-game road trip that concludes Oct. 28 in Philadelphia, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports. "He's pretty much day-to-day, but we need to ramp him up and get some conditioning going and get him acclimated to going full speed in 5-on-5," Weaver said. "Hopefully, we'll get him back sooner than later, but I would anticipate hopefully seeing him when we get back off the road."
EDGE Analysis
The No. 1 overall pick will miss Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls, and Weaver implied that Cunningham will likely make his debut shortly after the team returns from a three-game road trip that begins Saturday at Chicago and concludes just over a week later. With that in mind, Cunningham could return to action as early as Oct. 30, when the Pistons play host to theMagic.

Cunningham (ankle) will not play in Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls.
EDGE Analysis
As of Monday, coach Dwane Casey left the door open for Cunningham to potentially make his NBA debut Wednesday, but the Pistons will ultimately exercise caution and hold the No. 1 overall pick out of action as he battles the sprained ankle that sidelined him for the entire preseason. The rookie should be considered day-to-day with the hope that he's able to take the floor for Saturday's rematch against the Bulls in Chicago. Considering Cunningham hasn't taken the floor for a "real" game since Summer League, he may have to shake off some rust whenever he's cleared to debut.

Cunningham (ankle) resumed practicing Monday, but head coach Dwane Casey wouldn't commit to the rookie playing in Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. "When he's healthy, he'll be ready to go," Casey said of the rookie. "The medical people are being cautious, and rightfully so."
EDGE Analysis
Cunningham missed the entire preseason with a right ankle sprain, robbing both the Pistons and potential fantasy investors of an early glimpse of how he might fit within the Detroit lineup. Even so, Cunningham appears on track to avoid a lengthy absence to begin his pro career, even if his conditioning isn't quite where it needs to be ahead of Wednesday's opener. If Cunningham is sidelined against Chicago, more minutes could be up for grabs among Josh Jackson, Frank Jackson, Hamidou Diallo and Cory Joseph.

Cunningham (ankle) didn't practice Sunday, but Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said the rookie is still working to play in Wednesday's season opener versus the Bulls, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports. "He's on course," Casey said of Cunningham. "One thing we're not going to do is rush him back."
EDGE Analysis
Cunningham didn't play during the preseason after twisting his ankle in an Oct. 1 practice, but Detroit is apparently not ready to rule the No. 1 overall pick out from making his NBA debut Wednesday. That being said, Cunningham will almost certainly need to practice in some fashion Monday and/or Tuesday to have a realistic shot at playing against the Bulls, and even in that scenario, he could be subject to a minutes restriction.
