Hyland suffered a left ankle sprain during Thursday's preseason game against Denver and was unable to return, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Hyland will be re-evaluated Friday and should be considered questionable for Opening Night against Portland on Oct. 25.

He averaged 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 19.1 minutes across 14 appearances for Los Angeles last year.

Hyland ended with 20 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal over 21 minutes during Thursday's 129-124 loss to the Suns in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Hyland saw 13 and 14 minutes, respectively, during the first two games of the series, but with Kawhi Leonard (knee) joining Paul George (knee) on the sidelines Thursday, the second-year guard saw an uptick in playing time and took advantage. He was aggressive offensively and finished third on the team in scoring behind Norman Powell and Russell Westbrook thanks to a busy night at the charity stripe. If the Clippers' two superstars remain sidelined for Saturday's Game 4, Hyland should again see a sizable role off the bench.

Hyland tallied 14 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four assists, two rebounds and one steal across 21 minutes in Wednesday's 125-118 win over the Lakers.

Though the recent return of Norman Powell from an extended absence has probably lowered Hyland's minutes ceiling, the second-year guard has at least been able to maintain a rotation spot while both Paul George (knee) and Marcus Morris (back) have remained sidelined. Hyland has been a critical second-unit scorer for the Clippers since settling into a spot March 23, averaging 13.7 points to go with 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 22.3 minutes over a seven-game stretch.

Hyland notched 20 points (8-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 141-132 victory over Memphis.

Hyland has gotten consistent playing time in the last four games and has produced. He's averaging 16.8 points and 7.0 assists in those four contests. The 22-year-old is also helping out in other categories with five steals and 13 triples in the last four games. Both Paul George (knee) and Kawhi Leonard (personal) were out Wednesday, freeing up minutes and shots. Even when Leonard comes back, Hyland has found a useful role as the season comes to a close.

Hyland amassed 18 points (7-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and seven assists over 24 minutes during Saturday's 131-110 loss to the Pelicans.

EDGE Analysis

Hyland was productive off the bench with 27 minutes on the floor and was the lone bright spot against the Pelicans' relentless scoring barrage from beyond the arc. The VCU product is experiencing a usage spike in the wake of Paul George's (leg) injury, making him a potential streaming option as the regular season comes to a close.

Hyland amassed 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal across 26 minutes during Thursday's 127-105 victory over the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

With Paul George (knee) missing his first game since late January, many fantasy managers were anxious to see who might step up for the Clippers to try to replace his production. Hyland filled that role well Thursday, finishing third on the team in scoring and tying for the lead in assists. His 26 minutes were particularly promising given that Hyland hadn't gotten off the bench in any of Los Angeles' previous seven contests. The second-year guard has shown in the past that he can score in bunches when given the opportunity, and he could get that chance moving forward with George expected to miss multiple weeks.

Hyland logged 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes during Sunday's 134-124 overtime loss to Denver.

EDGE Analysis

After picking up a DNP-CD against the Kings on Friday, it was good to see Hyland back in coach Ty Lue's rotation, but it looks as though he may have a difficult time achieving fantasy relevance the rest of the way. Hyland played exactly 16 minutes in each of his two games with the Clippers before the All-Star break, so barring an injury to Russell Westbrook (25 minutes played Sunday), Eric Gordon (25) and/or Terance Mann (25), the second-year guard looks to be more of a secondary option.
