Davis ended Friday's 117-107 loss to the Wizards with 27 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 38 minutes.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the strong numbers in the box score, Davis' performance was erratic when it mattered. He missed a couple late free throws while the outcome was still in doubt and then coughed up the ball on a bad pass to Cooper Flagg, finishing with five turnovers in total. Davis has begun the 2025-26 season with back-to-back double-doubles, pulling down 13 boards each time, and staying healthy will be the veteran big man's biggest challenge.

Davis notched 27 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks and five turnovers in 38 minutes during Friday's 117-107 loss to the Wizards.
EDGE Analysis
That's two straight double-doubles for Davis to open the year, but it's also been two straight losses for the Mavericks. There's no question about Davis' ability to stuff the stat sheet, but managers will hope the losses don't become a frequent thing this season, as that would heighten the chance of an early-season shutdown for the oft-injured big man. The Mavs will look to right the ship Sunday against the Raptors.

Davis had 22 points (7-22 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 125-92 loss to the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Davis finished with a full line, including a 22-and-13 double-double, despite shooting just 7-for-22 from the field. Outside of the poor shooting and, of course, the result, it was a good night for those who drafted the oft-injured superstar. Look for him to find his rhythm in what could be a favorable matchup against the Wizards on Friday.

Davis finished with 18 points (7-15 FG, 4-7 FT, 0-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot across 32 minutes in Wednesday's 121-94 preseason win over the Lakers.
EDGE Analysis
Davis racked up a good number against his former team, and the big man's minutes ramped up to the kind of usage he'll see in the regular season. The increase is likely a conditioning move for the Mavericks, who need Davis to be at full strength right away when the regular season commences next week.

The Mavericks plan to increase Davis' minutes in Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers, Kevin Gray Jr. of AllDLLS.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis played 25 minutes in Monday's preseason win over the Jazz, so perhaps he'll log somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 minutes Wednesday. The superstar big man should be all systems go for the Oct. 22 regular-season opener against the Spurs.

Davis amassed 25 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals across 25 minutes in Monday's 114-101 preseason win over the Jazz.
EDGE Analysis
Davis delivered a well-rounded performance while leading all players in scoring. The star big man also tied the game high in blocks and matched the team-best mark in steals. The 32-year-old appeared in just nine regular-season games after being traded to Dallas in the 2024-25 campaign due to a left adductor strain, during which he averaged 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks across 29.4 minutes per game.

Davis compiled seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, two blocked shots and an assist in 16 minutes during Monday's 106-89 preseason win over Oklahoma State.
EDGE Analysis
The Mavericks have a wide array of options at center, so Davis should find himself fully entrenched at the four spot for most of the season. The veteran didn't have many opportunities to show his worth after joining the team last season, but he appears to be past the groin injury that kept him sidelined. He also underwent eye surgery and will be wearing protective eyewear for the foreseeable future.

Davis (eye) will wear protective eyewear for the rest of his playing career, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis was given a mandate by his doctor following a procedure in July to repair a detached retina in his right eye. Although he's going along with the mandate, he's not thrilled with it. "It's for the rest of [my] career, which I'm not too excited about." After a challenging 2024-25 campaign, which was marred by injuries and a mid-season trade to the Mavericks involving Luka Doncic, Davis gets an opportunity to start fresh with a new look, while being the undisputed leader on a talented Dallas squad.

Davis (eye) has been cleared for training camp, Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Jason Kidd told reporters Monday that everyone except Kyrie Irving (knee) has been cleared for training camp, which confirms that Davis is on track following his July 8 eye surgery. The big man logged 51 regular-season appearances last season between the Lakers and Mavericks, averaging 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals. A true two-way force, Davis' health will be one of the biggest factors in Dallas' push for success this season.

Davis (eye) got back on the basketball floor for the first time since July for five-on-five work Saturday, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis underwent eye surgery to repair a detached retina on July 8. He was expected to return in time for training camp and it appears he's on track to do just that following this latest report. After being traded to the Mavericks in the shocking Luka Doncic deal with the Lakers, Davis' time with Dallas for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign was marred by injuries, as he went down with an abductor injury in his first game with his new squad and then dealt with a knee injury late in the regular season. The one-time NBA champion will hope for a fresh start next month, with training camp set to get underway on Sept. 30.
