Anthony Bennett "appears fully recovered" after shoulder surgery in May, according to Cavs writer Terry Pluto. Bennett has been in Cleveland playing half-court basketball against some Cavs teammates, further evidence that he'll be ready to go for the start of training camp. Mike Brown has said a few times that he'll start Bennett at the PF position before eventually trying him at SF.

Anthony Bennett (shoulder) said that he "pretty sure" he'll be ready to start the season. "I'm pretty sure I'll be back by the start of the season," Bennett said. He suffered a torn rotator cuff and has been taking it slow throughout the offseason, including skipping Las Vegas Summer League and not playing with the Canadian national team. It's still unclear how the Cavs are going to use the overall top pick and their surplus of frontcourt players is a negative to his fantasy value.

Anthony Bennett, who is recovering from a torn rotator cuff, expects to be 100 percent this month. "I'm not trying to rush it but at the same time, still trying to get myself ready and conditioned," Bennett said. The No. 1 overall pick has been taking it slow this summer by not playing for Team Canada. Barring a setback, he'll be good to go for training camp.

Anthony Bennett (shoulder) will not play with Canada this summer. This is no surprise and his shoulder surgery kept the top pick in this year's draft out of Las Vegas Summer League. Bennett's position is still up in the air and Mike Brown believes that the UNLV product will be the small forward eventually, but he could start off the bench as a power forward. His shoulder should be ready to go for training camp.

Cavaliers coach Mike Brown believes No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett could be a small forward eventually. There had been rumblings during after and the draft about how Bennett would fit on Cleveland's roster given the presence of former first-round pick Tristan Thompson. However, Brown said Wednesday that Bennett will play power forward almost his entire rookie season, which means he'll likely battle Thompson for playing time and the starting job. Bennett, who is only 6-foot-8, could eventually move to the three, but the Cavs smartly want to get him adjusted to the NBA before moving him around the court.

Cavaliers coach Mike Brown expects Anthony Bennett (shoulder surgery) to be ready for training camp. Bennett had surgery to repair a torn labrum in early May, and previous reports suggested that he'll be 100 percent healthy by August. This simply confirms that the No. 1 pick should be healthy and acclimated on opening night. He's expected to play most of his minutes at power forward, but Brown said that "Way, way, way down the road, we might try him at [small forward]."

ESPN reiterates that the Cavs see No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett as a power forward. The Cavs have been clear that Bennett's primary position will be the "four." He'll battle Tristan Thompson for the starting job there. But he definitely has the athleticism and jumper to play some small forward -- just how many minutes he gets there will shake out during training camp. Note that offshore sportsbook Bovada has made Bennett the sixth choice to win Rookie of the Year honors.

Cavaliers GM Chris Grant believes that Anthony Bennett is a power forward, but coach Mike Brown said he'll take a "wait and see" approach. Bennett is strong and his 7'1" wingspan helps to compensate for his 6'7" height, but it's uncertain if he'll be able to defend NBA small forwards. Whatever position he's playing, the Cavs intend to get the ball in his hands offensively. "You put him in a pick-and-roll with Dion [Waiters] or Kyrie [Irving], he's going to be pretty difficult to guard," said Grant. "He can shoot the ball and is athletic and can handle the ball and get to the rim."
