The Marlins placed Pop on the 10-day injured list Saturday with right middle finger soreness, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The righty last appeared in a game Tuesday, striking out a pair in two scoreless innings. It's unclear how long Pop will be sidelined with the sore finger, but it figures to be a fairly brief IL stint unless he's dealing with a more significant injury.

Pop (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 11-6 victory over the Phillies, giving up one hit over a scoreless fourth inning. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The Rule 5 pick did allow an inherited runner to score after entering the game with two on and nobody out, but Pop found himself in the right place at the right time for his first career win when the Marlins put together a six-run fifth inning. The 24-year-old has a 0.96 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over his last 9.1 innings while working low-leverage spots, but his 6:6 K:BB over that stretch indicates he's still a work in progress.

Pop gave up a hit and a walk over two scoreless innings Sunday without striking out a batter in a loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander had been having a rough June, getting tagged for nine runs (eight earned) in his first three appearances of the month, but Pop was able to find his footing Sunday. The Rule 5 pick is averaging 95.3 mph with his fastball this year and has a solid 24.5 percent strikeout rate and 7.1 percent walk rate through his first 21.2 big-league innings, but his 6.65 ERA reflects stretches when he's been very hittable, and the Marlins aren't likely to use him in high-leverage spots any time soon.

Pop is still trying to become consistent with a new delivery after streamlining his mechanics during spring training, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. "I got rid of my high leg kick that I had in spring training, so I was trying to find a suitable delivery kind of being quicker to the plate," Pop said earlier this week. "I got some inconsistency problems early on, so we're just trying to fix that and trying to be more consistent moving forward with the delivery. Once that's the same, it'll be easier to make pitches and [have] less missed spots."
EDGE Analysis
The Rule 5 pick has had a rough start to his big-league career, posting a 9.95 ERA through his first 6.1 innings thanks to two homers, but Pop may have turned a corner recently as he struck out five batters over three perfect innings in his last two appearances. It will take a longer stretch of success before Marlins manager Don Mattingly begins considering him for high-leverage work, however.

Pop has made the Marlins' Opening Day roster, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a Rule 5 draft pick, the Marlins have to keep Pop on the active roster all season or offer him back to the Orioles. That gave him a leg up in the battle for a roster spot, but he seems to have won one legitimately, as he didn't allow an earned run in five innings of work this spring, striking out four while walking two and allowing three hits.

Pop topped out at 97.9 mph with his fastball, averaging 96.2 mph with the pitch, during a scoreless Grapefruit League appearance Thursday against the Cardinals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rule 5 pick hasn't given up a run over three innings this spring with a 3:1 K:BB. The Marlins have a lot of options for their bullpen, but Pop has put himself firmly in the mix with his performance, and his fastball/slider combo could earn him a high-leverage role and potentially even ninth-inning work down the road given the team's unsettled closer situation. Expect the 24-year-old right-hander, who has yet to pitch above Double-A in his career, to be eased into high-pressure spots early in the season if he does make the big-league roster.

Pop was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Marlins on Thursday in exchange for a player to be named later.
EDGE Analysis
Pop was selected by Arizona during Thursday's Rule 5 draft, but he'll be flipped to Miami several hours after his selection. The right-hander could reach 100 mph with his fastball earlier in his career, but it's unclear where his velocity is following Tommy John surgery in May of 2019. He should be fully healthy heading into spring training and will likely see work in lower-leverage situations as he works his way back into game action.
