Duke gave up two runs in an inning Tuesday against the White Sox, raising his spring training ERA to 4.91. He's competing with Cody Reed, Wandy Peralta, Matt Wisler among others for one of the final two bullpen spots with the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The mediocre numbers mean less than how Duke looks overall to the coaching staff. Many of his competitors have options remaining, which works in Duke's favor. Working against him is that there's not much in the way of future upside for him, so the Reds might not worry too much about losing him if they try to pass him through waivers.

Duke signed with the Reds on Friday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duke's ERA slipped to above 4.00 last season for the first time since 2013, but a 4.15 mark is still acceptable, and his underlying numbers looked good. His 21.3 percent strikeout rate and 8.8 percent walk rate were each right around average, while his 59.4 percent groundball rate was quite strong, helping him allow just a single home run in 52 innings. Homers could be tougher to avoid in Cincinnati, and he's unlikely to factor into the closer conversation at any point, so his fantasy value remains low.

Duke (4-4) struck out the only batter he faced to grab his first victory in a Mariners uniform on Sunday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
A quick five pitches was all it took for Duke to dispose of the pinch-hitting Teoscar Hernandez to end the seventh. He was subsequently rewarded with his first victory in his new digs when Nelson Cruz snapped a 3-3 tie in the home half of the frame with a two-run home run. Duke has been put right to work by manager Scott Servais, with Sunday serving as his third appearance in the six days he's been with the club. He's expected to see plenty of matchup-based work in the middle-to-late innings as warranted.

Duke was traded to the Mariners in exchange for Chase De Jong and Ryan Costello on Monday, Jon Heyman of Fancred reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duke will join the Mariners' bullpen after putting up a 3.62 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 45 appearances with Minnesota this year. The left-hander has posted a career high 6.6 K/9 and has yet to allow a home run in 37.1 innings of relief. Look for him to be deployed in high-leverage spots upon his arrival in Seattle.

Duke didn't give up a run in a third of an inning in Wednesday's win over Houston to earn his second hold of the season. He did walk two batters and had a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Duke has struggled a bit with six walks and a 11.25 ERA in four innings this season, but he's still being used in high-leverage spots and has eight strikeouts. He's being used as the primary lefty setup man in the bullpen.

Duke did not give up a run in an inning Sunday to finish spring training with 7.2 scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Duke had five strikeouts and three walks. He'll serve as a setup man in the bullpen and could bypass Taylor Rogers as the primary lefty with Rogers struggling a bit this spring (7.15 ERA).

Duke has agreed to a contract with Minnesota, pending a physical, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duke had Tommy John surgery in October 2016, but returned in July. He had a 3.93 ERA in 18.1 innings. He had just a 5.9 K/9, however, with a 5.33 FIP. The Twins likely saw enough to think he'll improve in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery. He could figure prominently in the team's setup corps as a result.

Duke fired a scoreless inning-plus in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs, allowing two hits and recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old lefty has hit his stride after a rough outing against the Padres on Aug. 22, as he's now strung together scoreless efforts in nine of his last 10 appearances. Duke has lowered his ERA from 6.75 to 5.11 over that stretch, although he's only worked as much as one inning in just two of those appearances. He's seen occasional hold opportunities, but his lack of strikeout upside and still-bloated ERA has largely kept him from serious fantasy consideration.

Duke recorded his fifth hold in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Giants, getting one out in the ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Duke was part of the three-pitcher attack manager Mike Matheny opted to deploy in the ninth inning, as he disposed of Jarrett Parker to get the second out with Brandon Crawford on second. It was the fifth consecutive scoreless effort for the veteran southpaw, who yielded runs in only two of 13 August appearances. The 34-year-old continues to see a brisk workload and has lowered his ERA from 6.75 to 5.59 over the aforementioned scoreless streak.

Duke (0-1) allowed an earned run on a walk and also recorded a strikeout over one-third of an inning in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. He was also credited with his fourth hold.
EDGE Analysis
The run that Chris Young scored on Mookie Betts' game-winning double off of John Brebbia went on Duke's ledger, snapping his six-appearance scoreless streak. The veteran lefty has been impressive despite Wednesday's stumble, amassing all four of his holds over the last six outings. However, considering the mileage on his arm and the fact that he's less than a year removed from Tommy John surgery, it remains to be seen how frequent a workload he'll see during the balance of the campaign.
