Chicago Cubs prized free-agent signing Yu Darvish fared well over 19 1/3 innings this spring. The starting pitcher will be slotted behind Opening Day starter Jon Lester in the Cubs rotation this year and has a favorable matchup versus the Miami Marlins on Friday. Darvish remains one of the best starting pitchers for strikeouts and should be a top-25 pitching this year.

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel (hand) will stay in Florida this week and continue his rehabilitation. Gurriel began fielding grounders and working on the field last week and felt good after batting practice today. It currently looks as if he will be back with the Astros at some point in the middle of April. Gurriel required surgery last Wednesday to remove the hook of the hamate bone in his left hand. He is due to miss 5-6 weeks and will also serve a five-game suspension for his insensitive gesture to Yu Darvish during the World Series, so a return in mid-to-late April is likely.
