Smith has settled back down with a pair of scoreless outings (5:1 K:BB) following his worst blown save of the season Tuesday against the Rockies (three earned runs over an inning). Neither of those last two appearances resulted in saves, but both came in tight contests (Friday's coming in the ninth inning of a tie game at home). Smith now owns a 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 6.1 K/BB to go along with 24 saves in 42 appearances.

Luckily for Smith, the Giants were able to rally back and secure the victory, giving the closer his third win of the season. The 30-year-old has blown two saves in three chances since the All-Star break after going a perfect 23-for-23 prior to that. Tuesday's three-run meltdown was Smith's worst outing of the season by far. The veteran southpaw was able to bounce back after his first blown save last week, so fantasy owners shouldn't worry quite yet.

Smith picked up the save in the nightcap of San Francisco's doubleheader against the Rockies on Monday, tossing a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 2-1 victory. He walked one and didn't record a strikeout.

Smith blew his first save of the season his last time out, but he bounced back with a clean effort in this one, needing 17 pitches to dispatch of the Rockies and pick up his 24th save of the season. The left-hander has been one of the better closers in baseball this season despite playing for the last-place Giants, as he's now sporting a 2.11 ERA, a stellar 0.81 WHIP and a 54:9 K:BB through 38.1 innings.

Smith (2-0) picked up the win in Friday's 10-7 extra-inning victory over the Brewers, giving up one run on one hit and striking out one over one inning of relief.

EDGE Analysis

The left-hander blew his first save of the season after Christian Yelich led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a triple and then scored, but Smith prevented any further damage and was rewarded when Buster Posey launched a grand slam in the top of the 10th. Smith now sports a 2.17 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 54:8 K:BB through 37.1 innings and remains the top bullpen arm most likely to be available at this year's trade deadline.

Smith gave up no hits and struck out two in a scoreless inning to record his 22nd save in a 7-5 win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Smith cruised through the ninth inning to nail down the save. Smith looks to carry his success from June into July as he posted eight saves with a 1.54 ERA in 12 appearances last month. The left-hander has a 1-0 record with a 2.10 ERA heading into the All-Star break.

Smith picked up the save with a spotless ninth inning against Colorado on Tuesday, striking out two.

EDGE Analysis

Smith was called upon to protect a two-run lead and once again delivered, needing only 11 pitches to set down the middle of Colorado's lineup in order. That makes 21 straight save conversions to begin the year for Smith, who now owns a 1.95 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 13.6 K/9. He remains a prime candidate to be traded, however, which could potentially move him to a setup role.

Smith struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 20th save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

The southpaw continues to enhance his trade value with a dominant performance as the Giants' closer. Smith has yet to blow a save this season and has been scored upon only once in his last 14 appearances, leading to a 2.01 ERA and 47:7 K:BB through 31.1 innings.

Smith picked up the save against the Dodgers on Monday, striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a baserunner to close out the Giants' 3-2 victory.

It was the 19th save in as many opportunities for the veteran southpaw, who is enjoying an excellent season as the primary ninth-inning option for the Giants. Coming off this latest solid effort, Smith is boasting a 2.12 ERA, a 0.81 WHIP and a 44:7 K:BB over 29.2 innings, making one of the better closer options out there despite pitching on a Giants team that is currently at the bottom of the National League West.

Smith grabbed his 18th save of the season Saturday against the Brewers, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two batters over one inning.

Smith entered with a two-run lead in the top of the ninth and wound up needing the insurance run. After a pair of strikeouts to start the inning, he gave up a homer to Christian Yelich to bring the game within one run. He shut the door following a Ryan Braun single and has now saved 18 of the Giants' 30 wins. According to Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area, manager Bruce Bochy said Smith won't be available for Sunday's series finale after throwing four of the last five days. Reyes Moronta and Mark Melancon are likely candidates should a save opportunity arise Sunday.
