Mahle allowed just one hit Saturday for Triple-A Louisville, throwing six shutout innings while striking out seven and walking three. The one hit he allowed came in his last inning of work.

This comes on the heels of his worst outing of the year, a one-inning stint against Charlotte last week where he gave up five runs on seven hits. In four starts for Louisville he has a 3.54 ERA and 23:7 K:BB over 20.1 innings.

Mahle was called up to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Mahle dominated at the Double-A level this season, accumulating a 1.59 ERA with a 0.87 WHIP in 85 innings of work. He tossed a perfect game in late April and currently holds a 87:17 K:BB to go along with a 7-3 record with Pensacola. The 22-year-old will earn his first taste of the Triple-A level and has worked his way up to being a top 10 prospect in the Cincinnati organization.

Mahle threw a perfect game at Double-A Pensacola against Mobile on Saturday night, Baseball America reports.

EDGE Analysis

Mahle struck out eight and needed just 88 pitches to go the distance. This continues a blazing start to the 2017 season for Mahle, as he has allowed only two earned runs over 26.2 innings, a span covering 26.2 innings. A 2013 seventh-round pick, Mahle was not considered to be a great prospect for the Reds, somewhere in the 10-15 range within their organization.

Mahle, 21, has a 2.50 ERA and 76:17 K:BB through 79.1 innings for High-A Daytona.

EDGE Analysis

Mahle tossed a no-hitter in his last start Monday, with the only blemish being a hit batsmen. Otherwise, he has not walked a batter in three-straight starts for the Tortugas. Opposing batters are hitting just .206 against him. A seventh-round selection in the 2013 draft, it appears that Mahle is already surpassing expectations.
