Bauer is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Orioles, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer will take the hill Friday on seven days' rest, a byproduct of postponements Saturday and Sunday and team off days Monday and this coming Thursday. The pair of off days this week will allow the Indians to get by with a four-man rotation until April 24, leaving Josh Tomlin to serve out of the bullpen in the short term.

Bauer (1-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings in Thursday's game against the Tigers. He struck out seven and was credited with the win.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer received six runs of support in the first two innings and went on to log his second-consecutive quality start en route to his first win of the year. The righty has struck out 21 batters in his first 20 innings and his ERA now sits at impressive 2.25 mark. After limiting the Tigers and Royals to a combined three runs in his last two starts, Bauer is set to receive a tougher test when he travels to Minnesota to take on the Twins on Wednesday.

Bauer allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven across eight innings but took the loss Saturday against the Royals.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer was a tough-luck loser Saturday, as he held the Royals' lineup in check with the only blemish coming on a Lucas Duda solo home run. He showed improved efficiency from his first start of the season, needing only 100 pitches to complete his eight innings of work. Bauer has had encouraging performances in his two starts this season despite not being rewarded with a win, striking out 14 batters and allowing only three earned runs in 13 innings of work.

Bauer allowed two runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts through five innings but took a no-decision Sunday against the Mariners.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer was nasty at times, but his wildness got to him, as the combination of walks and strikeouts left him at 101 pitches after just five frames. That was a big issue for Bauer in 2017 -- his 4.19 ERA was solid, good for a 109 ERA+. But he averaged just over 5.2 innings a start last season, and if he can't last deep enough into games, that won't be good enough for him to rack up the kind of wins fantasy owners will be hoping for from him.

Bauer tweaked his slider during the offseason in an attempt to emulate teammate Corey Kluber's slurve and Marcus Stroman's curveball, Zack Maisel of The Athletic Cleveland reports.

EDGE Analysis

Notorious for his ever-changing arsenal and exhaustive video study, Bauer spent the offseason modeling Kluber and Stroman in an attempt to find a more effective off-speed offering. Bauer, who said he logged around 30 innings over the winter to test out the new pitch against hitters, believes the slider will result in more lateral breaking and translate to weaker or less contact. Bauer has found success in his first two spring outings to date, conceding just one run and striking out seven over five innings, but it's difficult to draw any conclusions from that small of a sample. Regardless, it appears likely that the slider will become a larger part of Bauer's pitch mix in 2018 after he used the offering just 0.4 percent and 5.6 percent of the time in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Bauer will make $6.525 million in 2018 after winning his arbitration case, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer's case was settled last Thursday but was held off from being publicly released due to similar cases involving other pitchers around the league. In 2017, the right-hander recorded a 4.19 ERA and 1.37 WHIP while striking out a career high 196 opposing batters over 31 starts. The Indians came in at $5.3 million.

Bauer will start Game 4 of the ALDS against the Yankees on Monday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer will get the chance to close out the Bronx Bombers after they staved off elimination with a 1-0 win in Game 3 on Sunday. The 26-year-old will look to continue his success from Game 1 in Cleveland, when he twirled 6.2 innings of scoreless ball while striking out eight and giving up just two hits. He'll toe the bump opposite the Yankees' Luis Severino.

Bauer will start Game 1 of the ALDS against either the Yankees or Twins.

EDGE Analysis

Bauer will get the start after putting together a strong second half, compiling a healthy 3.01 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 83.2 innings since the All-Star break. By giving Bauer the ball in Game 1, the Indians strategically line up their ace, Corey Kluber, to pitch Game 2 -- and a potential Game 5 -- on normal rest.

Bauer (17-9) allowed just one run on four hits in six innings pitched en route to the victory Friday against the White Sox. He struck out seven.

EDGE Analysis

The only blemish on an otherwise solid day was a fourth-inning homer off the bat of infielder Yolmer Sanchez. Bauer still displayed some control issues, as just 49 of his 80 offerings went for strikes, but it's promising to see that he managed to avoid walking anyone even when he worked into unfavorable counts. The 26-year-old will now set his sights for the postseason after producing a 4.19 ERA, a 10.0 K/9 and a 17-9 record during the regular season.

Bauer gave up only one run on five hits and three walks over seven innings Friday while striking out six but didn't factor into the decision in a 3-1 loss to the Mariners.

EDGE Analysis

It's the righty's fourth quality start in his last five outings, with the only miss being the loss that ended Cleveland's historic 22-game win streak. Bauer now has a 3.13 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 86:26 K:BB in 77.2 second-half innings, and he'll get one more chance to improve those numbers Thursday at home against the Twins.
