Although MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to change the rule prohibiting drafted players from being traded in their first year under contract, the change was not retroactive, meaning that Turner will remain in the Padres organization until June 13, the Washington Post reports. Beginning with this year's class, drafted players can no longer become PTBNLs, but can be dealt beginning on the first day after the World Series. Turner however, who's hitting .284/.361/.405 with four steals in six attempts for Double-A San Antonio, will have to wait another six weeks to join his new organization.

Turner, 21, is 8-for-29 (.276) with two RBI and two steals through eight games for Double-A San Antonio. Turner had a stellar 2014 campaign, slashing .323/.406/.448 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 23 stolen bases in just 69 games. The promotion to Double-A is aggressive, but then again Turner is expected to be traded to the Nationals on June 13 as part of compensation from the Wil Myers deal.

Turner will start the season at Double-A San Antonio, Jeff Sanders of the Union-Tribune reports. Turner is widely believed to be the player to be named later in the three-team deal that sent Wil Myers to the Padres in December. He can't officially join the Nationals organization until June 13, so for now he will be on the Padres' Double-A affiliate in San Antonio.
