Wood has allowed zero runs and four hits over his last 8.1 innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
It's the first time this season the 30-year-old has gone more than two consecutive appearances without giving up a run. There's still plenty of work to do as Wood has a 6.51 ERA and 1.84 WHIP for the season, but his work in June is certainly a step in the right direction. Wood has already allowed the same number of earned runs (20) as he did with the Cubs last season, despite having pitched 33.1 fewer innings.

Wood owns a career-worst 9.17 ERA and 2.32 WHIP through 17 games this season.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a rough go for the first-year Royal who owns a disturbing 14:15 K:BB through 17.2 innings. Last season with the Cubs, Wood held a bit of fantasy value in the deepest of leagues, but the same cannot be said for the 30-year-old in 2017.

Royals' manager Ned Yost said Wednesday that Wood is an option for making a spot start Sunday against the Orioles, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star/a> reports.
EDGE Analysis
Yost will have to fill the gap left by Ian Kennedy (hamstring) for at least one more turn through the rotation. The first chance went to veteran right-hander Chris Young, and the manager said he was "leaning" toward going that same route this weekend. However, Young lasted just three innings in an unimpressive effort Tuesday, so Wood could get the call. The 30-year-old Wood hasn't started a game since late in the 2015 season as a member of the Cubs. If the left-hander does in fact get the ball, owners would be wise to avoid Wood considering his 11.91 ERA and 2.38 WHIP over 12 appearances this season.

Wood allowed three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and a walk while striking out just one batter through two innings during Thursday's loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Now sporting a 14.04 ERA and 2.76 WHIP over 8.1 innings, Wood's pitched himself off the fantasy grid. The crafty lefty will probably right the ship if given the opportunity, but his smoke-and-mirrors pitch arsenal might not be a good fit out of the bullpen. He's posted a 4.81 FIP as a reliever the past two seasons, after all.

Wood (0-1) was tagged with the loss Thursday after surrendering a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off a career-best campaign in 2016 with the Cubs, his first season as a full-time reliever, Wood has struggled mightily in the early goings of 2017. Through seven appearances and 4.2 innings, the right-hander has forfeited seven earned runs on six hits and six walks (13.50 ERA and 2.57 WHIP).

Manager Ned Yost announced on Monday that Wood would begin the season in the bullpen, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood spent all of the 2016 season in the bullpen with the Cubs, posting a 2.95 ERA across 77 relief appearances. It was thought he might make the switch back to being a starter, a role he primarily occupied from 2010 to 2014, however he was beaten out for the last job by recently acquired Nathan Karns. The 30-year-old could see some starts if injuries hit the Royals' rotation, but he will likely spend the majority of the year in a relief role.

Wood and the Royals agreed to terms on a two-year contract Monday, the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood still has to pass a physical for the deal to become official, but all indications are that he'll join the Royals in short order. The left-hander, who spent last season with the Cubs, could be used in the bullpen or as a starter, and it's unclear, exactly, what Kansas City's plan is at this time. Wood posted a 2.95 ERA across 77 relief appearances last season, but he has extensive experience as a starter, having been utilized in that role at the major league level almost exclusively from 2010 to 2014.

Wood, who's spent the last five seasons with the Cubs, is drawing interest from the Blue Jays, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toronto is frantically searching to replace left-hander Brett Cecil, who signed as a free agent with the Cardinals. Wood avoided arbitration when he signed a one-year, $6.7 million deal with the Cubs in January 2016. The 29-year-old southpaw went on to post a 2.95 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 77 games for the World Champions.

Wood has pitched just one-third of an inning so far in August.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs recently added Aroldis Chapman, Mike Montgomery, Joe Nathan, and Joe Smith to their bullpen, so someone had to lose playing time. Right now, that someone appears to be Wood, who made 52 appearances through July 31. With a 2.68 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, Wood isn't done yet, but he was likely getting leaned on too much, so his opportunities may continue to dwindle over the season's final months.

Wood struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings against the Mets on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Wood got four outs but only faced three hitters Saturday, as he induced the first batter he faced in relief of Jake Arrieta to hit into a double play. He's been a valuable part of the Cubs' pen this year, earning a 2.14 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 33.2 innings.
