NL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 18 rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 4:00 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can. The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]

Champ or Chump: Cole Hamels and Mike Moustakas rotoballer.com Mon 7/30/18 3:55 AM

The moves just keep on coming. Joakim Soria no longer has an obvious path to saves, so he can be dropped in most formats. Luke Voit, Chasen Shreve, Jonny Venters, and Ryan Pressly are not fantasy-relevant in most formats regardless of their home park. Eduardo Escobar is heading to the desert, where a superior lineup figures to boost his counting stats if and only if he maintains the playing time and batting order slot he enjoyed in Minnesota. I previously wrote about him here. Asdrubal Cabrer[...]

Part 1: Top-50 Players to Target Part 2: Mid-Tier and Bargain Targets on Offense Part 3: Mid-Tier and Bargain Pitchers Part 4: Offensive Category Targets Part 5: Pitching Category Targets Each section focuses on players who offer strong value for that specific category while not crippling a team in other categories. It is worth noting that with only about ten to twelve starts le[...]

Travis Shaw Sitting Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 7/29/18 10:52 AM

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. Shaw has a slash line of .210/.286/.247 against left handed pitching this season and the lefty Andrew Suarez is starting for the Giants. On top of that, the Brewers just acquired third baseman Mike Moustakas, so Shaw might be sitting more often against lefties than we expected coming in to the season.

Buy or Sell - Undervalued and Overvalued Players for Week 18 rotoballer.com Sat 7/28/18 3:00 AM

In a relatively active week on the MLB trade market, we now have several impactful moves to digest from a fantasy standpoint. While real-life GMs always assume trades will work in their team's benefit, the reality is that not all players are able to adapt to their new team in a positive way. With more deals to come and fantasy trade deadlines looming, it's time to take some risks and project values of newly dealt stars. Scouting players who may be undervalued and re-assessing players who may [...]

Trading Up: Mid-Tier and Bargain Buys (Pitchers) rotoballer.com Mon 7/16/18 3:30 AM

This article is the third in our series on trade targets for the second half of the season. Part 1 focused on players generally ranked in the top 50. Part 2 focused on mid-tier and bargain targets for offense. This installment focuses on pitchers ranked outside the top 50. Part four will focus on players to target for specific categories rather than positional improvement. For these pitchers, I've included both ownership levels and consensus rank (CR) to indicate their current valuation and r[...]

This article is the second in our series on trade targets for the second half of the season. Part 1 focused on players generally ranked in the top 50. This installment focuses on offensive players ranked outside the top 50. Part three will focus on pitchers. After that, we'll focus on players to target for specific categories rather than positional improvement. Most of the players below have suffered injuries, uncharacteristically disappointing first halves, or shifts in the prevailing atti[...]

The Cut List (Week 15): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 7/8/18 4:00 AM

Welcome to Week 15 of the Cut List. Each week, I highlight players who you should consider letting go in your fantasy baseball leagues. Whether it's hyped prospects who hit a wall or veterans in extended slumps, sometimes it's best to know when to move on. This week I'm taking a look at Ian Kinsler, Salvador Perez, Yasiel Puig, and Cole Hamels. I think these guys are safe cuts in nearly all standard leagues. Kinsler isn't worth holding in shallow formats, Perez is slumping, Puig is replaceabl[...]
