D'Arnaud homered as a pinch hitter in his only plate appearance during Saturday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Steven Vogt the start behind the plate in the contest, but d'Arnaud was summoned to pinch hit in the ninth inning. He drilled a 421-foot homer to bring Atlanta within a run, though the team was unable to score again. D'Arnaud's long ball was his first since Aug. 20, and he has struggled of late with a .185 batting average over his past eight contests.

D'Arnaud went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Friday's 3-0 win over the Orioles.

D'Arnaud inked a two-year, $16 million contract extension with Atlanta earlier in the day, and he had a strong showing in Friday's series opener against Baltimore with his second home run since he returned from the injured list Aug. 11. The veteran backstop has appeared in six games since he returned to full health, and he's hit .292 with two homers, two doubles, six RBI and four walks during that time.

D'Arnaud signed a two-year, $16 million extension with Atlanta on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The deal keeps the catcher in Cobb County through the end of the 2023 season, with the club also getting an $8 million team option to keep him around for an additional year. D'Arnaud has shown some of the best form of his career during his time with Atlanta, hitting .284/.345/.470 with 12 homers and 49 RBI in 72 games with the team, though almost all of his success came last year. He's produced a 71 wRC+ this year while spending the majority of the season on the injured list after undergoing thumb surgery, but the organization evidently believes he has at least two more years of good performances in his bat despite his recent struggles.
