Blankenhorn is hitting .305 with six home runs and a .865 OPS at Double-A Pensacola. He's split his time between second base and left field.
EDGE Analysis
Blankenhorn, a 2015 third-round draft pick, has been a disappointment in his minor league career so far with a career-high 13 home runs in 2017 and just a .781 OPS at High-A last year. At 22, he's a bit older than his competition at his level, but there's still hope he can become a late bloomer.

Blankenhorn was placed on the 7-day DL at Low-A Cedar Rapids with a strained lower back, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
With just 27 games left on the Kernels' schedule, Blankenhorn's 2017 season could be over, depending on how quickly he is able to recover. While Blankenhorn profiles as a better fantasy prospect than real-life asset, due to his mediocre defensive profile, his stock has still taken a hit this year, as he slashed .234/.333/.400 with eight home runs and nine steals despite being relatively old (turned 21 on Aug. 3) for the Midwest League.

Blankenhorn, 20, is hitting just .150 with 12 strikeouts over his last 10 games for Low-A Cedar Rapids.
EDGE Analysis
The recent cold spell has pushed Blankenhorn's slash line down to .233/.337/.402. He does have eight home runs and nine steals on the season, and is not afraid to take a walk. However, he has also fanned 100 times in 94 games. With Miguel Sano entrenched at third base as the cornerstone of the future for the Twinkies, one has to wonder where Blankenhorn will eventually fit.

Blankenhorn went 2-for-4 with a home run Saturday. He's 3-for-10 in three games for Low-A Cedar Rapids.
EDGE Analysis
Blackenhorn, taken 80th overall in the 2015 draft, showed promise last season with a .900 OPS and nine home runs in rookie ball before holding his own at Low-A with a .774 OPS at age 19. If he can improve his command of the strike zone (5.4 walk rate last year in rookie ball), he could move to High-A early in the season.
