Edman's bat has been a bit subpar, but his defensive versatility has helped him maintain steady playing time for the Cardinals.

Edman went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Brewers.

Just a few days after reaching the 25-steal milestone, Edman tied his career-high in home runs Tuesday with 13. The long ball was his first of September. During his last eight appearances, Edman is 9-for-31 (.290) with one RBI and three runs scored.

Edman entered Friday just 4-for-38 with one RBI over his previous nine games. The theft was his 25th of the year in 28 attempts, though it was also his first since Sept. 8. He should close out the year as the Cardinals' main second baseman with Nolan Gorman (hamstring) uncertain to return from the injured list.

Edman is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.
