Murphy was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to neck spasms, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury is not expected to hold Murphy out long term, and the hope is that he can return at some point during the team's weekend series against the Rays. Even so, it wouldn't be a surprise to lee Luis Torrens draw a start behind the plate Friday to allow Murphy an additional day of rest.

Murphy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy started in three of the past four games, but he went 0-for-7 with five strikeouts and two walks over that stretch to drop his season average to .323. He should see a slight uptick in opportunities following the recent demotion of Cal Raleigh to Triple-A Tacoma, but Luis Torrens looks like Option 1A behind the plate for the Mariners at this time.

Murphy will sit Friday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy seemed like he could be in line for a larger share of catching duties after Cal Raleigh was optioned Thursday. That hasn't been the case thus far, however, as it's been Luis Torrens who's gotten the start in two straight games.

Murphy isn't starting Thursday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy should see an uptick in playing time behind the dish after Cal Raleigh was sent down Thursday, but he'll get a day off in the series finale against Tampa Bay. Luis Torrens will start at catcher and bat ninth.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs in a win over the Royals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop continued to rip the cover off the ball in Saturday's 13-run breakout, authoring his first multi-hit effort since his first start of the season. Murphy has made the most of his seven appearances thus far, producing a .421 average and 1.174 OPS across his first 24 plate appearances.

Murphy went 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs in a win over the Astros on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The hot-hitting catcher pushed his average and on-base percentage to .500 and .636, respectively, with his highly active day at the plate and on the basepaths. The sample size of 11 plate appearances on the season for Murphy is miniscule, but it's nevertheless encouraging to see the veteran backstop hit safely in each of his first three games after producing a disappointing .202/.304/.350 slash line across 97 games a season ago.

Murphy went 2-for-3 with a home run, walk and two runs scored in a 4-3 win Saturday in Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy walked and scored in the third and hit a solo home run in the fifth off starter Sonny Gray. It was the season debut for Murphy, as Cal Raleigh started on opening day. Murphy is a defense-first catcher but has hit for power at the Major League level. He should receive a significant share of the catching responsibilities for Seattle with Raleigh getting the majority of starts.

Murphy signed a one-year, $1.575 million contract with the Mariners on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy is in his second year of arbitration eligibility after splitting time behind the plate with Cal Raleigh and Luis Torrens last season. Murphy hit .202/.304/.350 with 11 home runs in 34 RBI in 97 games, and the Mariners are entering 2022 with the same group of catchers.

Murphy is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cal Raleigh starts behind the dish in a must-win game for the Mariners, who still have a chance at a wild card berth. Murphy will be available off the bench as a potential pinch hitter or defensive replacement.
