Murphy (hip) will return to the lineup Monday against Arizona, batting fourth and serving as the designated hitter.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy was scratched Sunday with what was later revealed to be a hip issue. While it may take a few more days for him to get back behind the plate, his readiness for Opening Day doesn't appear to be threatened.

Murphy was scratched from Sunday's spring game against the Brewers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
No injury has been announced, so it's unclear if it's just a late lineup change of if the 29-year-old is dealing with some sort of issue. Luis Torrens will start in his place and will benefit should Murphy be forced to miss any real time.

Murphy, who missed all of 2020 due to a foot injury, is 1-for-11 with a walk and four strikeouts across his first five Cactus League games.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop understandably has some rust to shed after last seeing seeing game action during the early stages of last year's summer camp. Murphy is projected to fill the slightly longer side of a platoon behind the dish alongside Luis Torrens, with the former initially expected to log a bit more than half the playing time at catcher.

Murphy, who missed all of the 2020 season with a broken bone in his foot, is fully recovered but will have his workload closely monitored in spring training, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop was a pleasant surprise for the Mariners back in 2019, putting up career bests in doubles (12), home runs (18), RBI (40), walks (19) and runs (32) while slashing .273/.324/.535 across 281 plate appearances. There were consequently high hopes for Murphy heading into 2020, but a fracture suffered from fouling the ball off his foot multiple times during summer camp last year led to the lost season. Luis Torrens (back), acquired from the Padres at last year's trade deadline, impressed over his brief time with the Mariners and is expected to also receive a solid amount of playing time behind the dish in the coming campaign.

Murphy signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Mariners on Friday to avoid arbitration.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old was expected to start behind the plate for Seattle in 2020, but he missed the entirety of the season after fracturing his foot in July. Murphy is expected to work in a timeshare at catcher with Luis Torrens in 2021.

Murphy is fully healed from his foot injury and participating in full workouts, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy missed the entire 2020 season due to a lingering foot injury, but he's fully recovered and will be ready to participate in spring training. The 29-year-old is expected to operate in a timeshare with Luis Torrens in 2021 since Torrens performed well after being acquired by the Mariners at the trade deadline last year.

Murphy (foot) is expected back at full health next season and should operate in a timsehare with Luis Torrens (back) behind the dish, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy was shut down for good in mid-September after it become evident he would not be able to return from the broken bone he suffered in his left foot during summer camp. The veteran backstop should be back to full health by the time spring training rolls around, but he isn't likely to be ticketed for the high-volume role he was projected to fill in 2020; Torrens, acquired from the Padres at the trade deadline, performed well in a limited sample with the Mariners and figures to see a solid share of playing time in his own right next season.

Murphy (foot) was recently shut down in his recovery process and sent home by the Mariners, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy fractured his left foot during summer camp and was never able to make it back to game action during the shortened 2020 season. Although the 29-year-old was shut down for the remainder of this season, he could certainly be ready for the 2021 campaign as he should compete for playing time behind the plate.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Monday that Murphy (foot) has yet to resume baseball activities, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the Mariners dealt backstop Austin Nola to San Diego on Sunday, the move didn't foreshadow an impending return for Murphy, who appeared positioned to open the season as Seattle's top catcher before fracturing his left foot during summer camp. While his placement on the 45-day injured list makes him eligible to return in the first week of September, Murphy doesn't appear close to being ready for game action. Unless Murphy makes demonstrable progress in his recovery in the next week or two, he looks to be at risk of missing the entire season.

Murphy (foot) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old recently had a setback while recovering from the broken bone in his left foot and won't be eligible to be activated until Sept. 4, according to Greg Johns of MLB.com. Austin Nola should continue handling primary catching duties for the Mariners.
