Nido will start at catcher and bat ninth Monday against the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nido is behind the plate for the fourth time in five games and appears to be the Mets' preferred option at catcher over Omar Narvaez while Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is on the shelf. Though he's well regarded for his framing and ability to manage the Mets' pitching staff, Nido is a career .213 hitter and offers little power or speed, making him uninteresting for fantasy purposes outside of NL-only leagues.

Nido went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old backstop took Miles Mikolas deep in the fifth inning to get the Mets on the board and give Nido his first homer in the majors since Sept. 2022. He had a hot start to the season at Triple-A and hasn't slowed down in the majors yet, going 3-for-9 while starting three of the last five games. With Omar Narvaez struggling both at the plate and in controlling the running game, the door is open for Nido to take on a significant role while Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is on the shelf.

Nido went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start of the season for the Mets and batting ninth, Nido threw out Will Smith attempting to swipe second base to end the third inning -- a noteworthy event only because Francisco Alvarez (thumb) and Omar Narvaez had gone a combined 0-for-28 to begin the season in throwing out base-stealers. With Alvarez sidelined and Narvaez batting just .200 (5-for-25), Nido's defense could earn him more than just a short-side platoon role while he's in the majors.

The Mets called up Nido from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move comes with the Mets placing Francisco Alvarez (thumb) on the IL. Nido has played well with Triple-A Syracuse this season, slashing .345/.345/.517 with two doubles, one home run and two RBI over 30 plate appearances. With Alvarez on the shelf, Nido will serve as the Mets' backup catcher behind Omar Narvaez.

Nido was informed by the Mets on Saturday that he won't be on the team's Opening Day roster, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nido struggled in his limited time in the majors last season. He had a .125 batting average with the Mets over 61 plate appearances, but that bumped up to .279 over 147 plate appearances with Triple-A Syracuse. Syracuse may be where Nido begins 2024.
