Todd Helton is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates. Jason Giambi will make the start at first base and bat fifth against right-hander James McDonald. Look for Helton to be in the lineup for the second game.

Todd Helton hit his second home run of the season to help lead the Rockies to a 4-3 victory over the Brewers on Friday. Helton finished the night 1-for-4 with the solo shot off of Shawn Marcum in the sixth inning. Though he's not nearly the offensive force that he was at one point in his career, Helton still possesses a quality bat when he's healthy. He's now driven in nine runs on the season, and could be a decent spot play at corner infielder for those in deeper leagues.

Todd Helton delivered a walkoff homer off J.J. Putz as the Rockies topped the Diamondbacks 8-7 on Saturday. Putz had saved 28 in a row dating back to last year before giving up the two-run bomb. It was Helton's first homer, but he is now 7-for-15 with six RBI in his last three starts.

Todd Helton went 3-for-5 with three RBI in a 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday. The Rockies trailed 6-2 after the top of the third inning, but Helton's RBI double in the bottom of the eighth put them in front. After starting the season 1-for-12, the veteran first baseman has six hits in his last 12 at-bats.

Todd Helton went 2-for-3 with two home runs in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Reds. Helton was limited in the early stages of spring training, but is now hitting .407 with a 1.299 OPS in his last 27 at-bats. He'll head into yet another season as the Rockies' starting first baseman, and should remain useful in NL-only leagues as long as he's healthy.

Todd Helton is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut Wednesday against the Giants. Helton didn't play in Colorado's first two games, but there's no reason to rush him out there given his history of back issues. The 38-year-old batted .302/.385/.466 with 14 homers, 69 RBI and an .850 OPS over 129 games last season and should remain useful in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues as long as he's healthy.

Todd Helton has had no problems with his back thus far during his offseason workouts. The 38-year-old had to be shut down late in the season after his back acted up on him, but he's feeling good now. "I have been working out. There have been no problems," said Helton. "I am fine." It's encouraging that he feels good now, but Helton has had problems with his back for years now and the issue doesn't figure to go away as he draws closer to his 40th birthday.

Todd Helton will not need surgery on his ailing back. Helton has been shut down for the season, but an MRI revealed no structural damage and he expects to enter next spring training healthy. "There's no surgery. That was great news. I will be fine," said Helton. The 38-year-old had a good, albeit injury-plagued season, batting .302/.385/.466 with 14 homers and 69 RBI over 124 games.

Todd Helton (back) is unlikely to return to the Rockies' starting lineup before the end of the season. Helton hasn't played since last Tuesday because of back pain. An MRI taken this week showed no serious structural damage, but the 38-year-old veteran first baseman is still dealing with a good amount of discomfort. He batted .302/.385/.466 with 14 homers and 69 RBI in 124 games this year.
