Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza will begin the season on the disabled list due to a strained right pectoral muscle. Initial estimates believe that Souza will be out of commission until mid-May. Knowing that he will miss almost two months of the season puts a damper on his draft stock. When he returns, Souza should regain his starting job in right field. While he recovers, Jarrod Dyson will get the majority of the at-bats.

Diamondback's outfielder Jarrod Dyson is likely to receive to majority of the starts in the outfield in the absence of Steven Souza. With Souza likely to be out until mid-May, Dyson has over a month to establish himself as the main replacement, where he will compete with Chris Owings and Yasmany Tomas. He won't be worth playing in an every day role due to his struggles against left-handers (.215/.293/.259) but he would be a good platoon player when the D'Backs face a string of right handers.
