Steven Souza 2019 Player Outlook: Can He Overcome Health and Strike... rotoballer.com Fri 1/18/19 12:32 PM
Steven Souza strained his pectoral muscle during spring training in 2018, and that injury seems to have derailed his entire 2018 season. He spent the first five weeks of the season on the disabled list, returned for 47 miserable plate appearances of a .163 AVG and .420 OPS, and spent another five weeks on the shelf. He came back in July and put up a .734 OPS and .177 ISO in 225 PA, but dealt with lingering injury issues all season. [...]

Earlier this offseason, I wrote about the sleeper value of Luke Voit and how believing in him was a conscious decision to move on from a blind spot I had for Greg Bird for a couple of years. Well, in this article I am going to break down a player who I do not think fantasy owners should be giving up on just yet.Steven Souza Jr. is 29 years old but it feels like he has been around for years. In fact, he first debuted in the [...]

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza Jr. avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $4.125 million deal, according to a source. Souza managed 30 home runs and 16 stolen bases in his final season with Tampa in 2017, but he came back to Earth in 2018 by hitting a measly .220/.309/.369 with only five long balls, 29 RBI and six steals in 72 games because of injuries. Souza has an attractive power-speed combination, but he rarely stays on the field for long stretches of t[...]

Steven Souza Jr. Removed From Game Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 9/23/18 6:17 PM
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza Jr. (back) was pulled from the game early on Sunday with a lower back spasm. Souza was hitless with a strikeout in two plate appearances to drop his season line to .217/.306/.354 with four homers, 28 RBI and six steals on the year. He has been incredibly cold this month and has lost playing time because of it. You can't rely on him in the final month of the season, especially now that he's injured.

ANALYSIS: Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza Jr. appears to be turning the corner and turning into the 30 home run/16 stolen base player that they traded for this spring. Unfortunately, Souza suffered a pectoral muscle strain in spring training that kept him out for most of the first half (he initially came back in May, but played poorly and landed back on the disabled list with the same injury a few weeks later). No matt[...]
Steven Souza Jr. is Out of the Lineup Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 8/16/18 4:11 PM
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza Jr. (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the San Diego Padres. Jon Jay will lead off and play right field against righty Jacob Nix. Jay is a decent DFS option, but does not have much upside with the bat. Batting in the top of the order is favorable for him.
