Matz (elbow) allowed five earned runs on five hits, including two home runs, over four innings with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, his second rehab start.
EDGE Analysis
The good news here is Matz increased his pitch count from 53 to 78 and reported no issues after the start, but Las Vegas manager Pedro Lopez said he expects the 25-year-old to make at least one more rehab appearance. The Mets are desperate to get the southpaw back in their struggling rotation, so his activation may not be too far off. However, until things improve, it appears Tommy Milone and Robert Gsellman will maintain starting spots.

The Mets could activate Matz (elbow) from the disabled list if he performs well during his rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets were initially planning on having Matz make two rehab starts with Las Vegas before having him rejoin the big club in early June, but with the ongoing struggles of back-end rotation members Tommy Milone and Robert Gsellman have kept GM Sandy Alderson open to the idea of accelerating Matz's timetable. Matz, who has been sidelined since spring training with a left elbow issue, looked strong during his first rehab start at High-A St. Lucie on May 18, tossing three innings and giving up one run on two hits and two walks. He'll likely have his pitch count bumped up when he starts for Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Matz (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Justin Tasch of The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming all goes well Tuesday, the left-hander will make one more rehab start for Las Vegas before rejoining the Mets in early June. Matz has yet to pitch in the majors this season but posted a 3.40 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 129:31 K:BB through 132.1 innings in 2016.

Matz (elbow) is expected to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the Mets, Daniel Popper of The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The beleaguered Mets rotation gets some good news for a change. Matz's current schedule would see him return to the big leagues during the first weekend in June for a home series against the Pirates, but the lefty will need to make it through the rehab process without any setbacks first.

Matz (elbow) threw 53 pitches, allowing a run on two hits and two walks, striking out three over three innings in his first rehab appearance Thursday at High-A Port St. Lucie, the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz, working his way back from elbow discomfort, threw 30 pitches in extended spring training Saturday paving the way for his first rehab start Thursday. He likely will need between two and four more rehab outings before rejoining the Mets, probably in early-June. The Mets' rotation has been a tire fire this season and in need of a major boost, which Matz would provide, health permitting.

Matz (elbow) will make a rehab appearance Thursday at High-A Port St. Lucie, Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz threw 30 pitches in extended spring training Saturday, his first game action since he was placed on the disabled list to open the season. He has had no issue since returning to throwing in Florida, and if all continues to go well, expect a return to the Mets rotation sometime in early June.

Matz (elbow) threw 30 pitches in an extended spring training game Saturday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
No setbacks were reported following Saturday's workout, so Matz appears to be on track to return in early June. Matz will aim to steadily increase his level of throwing activities, so further information regarding the next steps of his rehab should become available in the coming days.

Matz (elbow) will throw in extended spring training Saturday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Apparently Matz has a chance to return to the Mets in early June if all goes well. Matz resumed throwing in mid-April after being shut down for several weeks with a flexor tendon strain. The talent is there, but Matz's extended injury history should be at the forefront of all prospective owners' minds.

Matz (elbow) threw about 20 pitches off the rubber in a side session Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's a small step forward in the recovery process for Matz, who had previously been limited to throwing off the slope of the mound in his last workout Sunday. Matz should gradually increase his pitch count in subsequent bullpen sessions before advancing to facing hitters. The Mets don't have an official timetable for his return from the 10-day disabled list, but it's still looking as though he's multiple weeks away.

Matz (elbow) is slated to throw off the slope of a mound Sunday and is targetting a late May return, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will be the first time he throws off an elevated surface since he was shut down with the flexor tendon strain. Other than Noah Syndergaard, who is day-to-day with biceps tendinitis, and Jacob deGrom, the Mets have struggled to get solid work from their starters, so a spot in the rotation should be waiting for Matz once he is healthy. Seth Lugo (elbow) is at the same stage in his recovery, but Matz is ahead of him in the pecking order.
