Matz allowed two runs on three hits and zero walks over five innings during Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets. He had seven strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander surrendered a pair of solo homers but otherwise kept New York off the board, but he missed out on the victory since the St. Louis bullpen was unable to maintain a one-run advantage. Matz has a 3.86 ERA and 14:0 K:BB covering 11.2 innings over his past two starts, though he's also allowed four long balls.

Matz will start Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz has had an up-and-down season to this point. Though he has posted two quality starts in his last three outings, sandwiched in the middle was an eight-run blow up against the Giants, leaving his year-long ERA at 6.40. The 30-year-old will look to take advantage of the opportunity to face a Mets lineup that already played a game earlier in the day, and perhaps down a couple regulars.

Matz (3-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven in 6.2 innings of a 3-2 defeat Thursday against Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing a second-inning solo homer to Jorge Mateo, Matz cruised through the Baltimore lineup over the next four innings, at one point retiring 11 straight. He retired the first two batters in the seventh but then gave up a solo shot to Anthony Benboom and a single to Chris Owings and was removed. The veteran lefty allowed only one home run in his first five starts but has been tagged five times over his last two starts, spanning 8.2 innings. His next start will likely be early next week against the Mets.

Matz is listed as the starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Orioles, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was initially slated to start Friday against the Giants, but he'll apparently be pushed up to start a day earlier since Jordan Hicks (undisclosed) will no longer start. Matz should still be fully rested since he last pitched Saturday in San Francisco. Over his last three starts, he's posted a 9.00 ERA and 13:5 K:BB in 12 innings.

Matz (3-2) suffered the loss against San Francisco on Saturday, allowing eight runs on five hits and three walks over two innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander's outing got off to an ominous start when the first three batters reached base via two walks and an infield single. Wilmer Flores ensured that the Giants took advantage of the situation, belting a grand slam to clear the bases. Matz gave up two more homers -- both of the two-run variety -- in the second frame and didn't come out for the third. It was the first time this season that Matz has given up multiple long balls in a contest, and it unsurprisingly resulted in the veteran yielding a season-worst eight runs. He'll try to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday at home versus Baltimore.

Matz (personal) was activated from the bereavement list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday but has rejoined the team as expected without missing his turn through the rotation. The left-hander is scheduled to start Saturday against the Giants and has a 4.56 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 27:5 K:BB across 23.2 innings this season.

Matz (personal) is expected to be ready to go for his start Saturday against San Francisco, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz landed on the bereavement list Tuesday, but it looks as though he'll avoid missing any outings. He started Monday against the Royals and will be back with the team before his next scheduled start.

Matz was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Players may spend between three and seven days on the bereavement list. Matz started Monday against the Royals, so his next turn in the rotation lines up to come Saturday in San Francisco. He'll be eligible to return by then, but it's possible his next outing will be slightly delayed.

Matz (3-1) picked up the win Monday after he tossed six scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four in the victory over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Matz looked strong Monday, out dueling Zack Greinke in what was a 1-0 win. It was the second time this season he didn't walk a batter and he logged his first quality start of the campaign. Matz has had a mixed bag of production on the mound this season. He's had two starts where combined he's given up 11 runs in seven innings, but otherwise he's surrendered just one run over 16.2 frames in his other three outings. Matz's season long numbers now stand at a 4.56 ERA and 1.44 WHIP as he starts his second month with the Cardinals.

Matz didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Mets, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
All the damage against the southpaw came in the second inning, but Matz still exited the game with the Cardinals ahead 8-4. Unfortunately, an elevated pitch count (97, 68 for strikes) prevented him from getting the win against his former club. Matz is now saddled with a 6.11 ERA, but his 23:5 K:BB through 17.2 innings suggests there's been more than a little bad luck involved in that mark.
