The Cut List (Week 15): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 7/8/18 4:00 AM
Welcome to Week 15 of the Cut List. Each week, I highlight players who you should consider letting go in your fantasy baseball leagues. Whether it's hyped prospects who hit a wall or veterans in extended slumps, sometimes it's best to know when to move on.
This week I'm taking a look at Ian Kinsler, Salvador Perez, Yasiel Puig, and Cole Hamels. I think these guys are safe cuts in nearly all standard leagues. Kinsler isn't worth holding in shallow formats, Perez is slumping, Puig is replaceabl[...]
Mets Looking To Deal Zack Wheeler And Steven Matz rotoballer.com Thu 7/5/18 3:41 PM
The New York Mets are no longer exploring trade options for starting pitchers Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom and instead are exploring scenarios for fellow starting pitchers Zack [...]
Steven Matz Has Nice Rebound Against Pirates rotoballer.com Wed 6/27/18 5:41 AM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz had his worst outing of the season on June 21 against the Colorado Rockies, but he rebounded in a big way against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. Across seven innings pitched, Matz allowed three earned runs on six hits, without walking a better, and struck out seven on the night in a no-decision. The outing lowers Matz's ERA to 3.69 and his [...]
Steven Matz Should Rebound From Bad Start In Colorado rotoballer.com Tue 6/26/18 10:58 AM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz had arguably his worst start of the season on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies, but he should have an easier matchup on Tuesday when the Mets take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his last outing, Matz allowed five earned runs across only 5 2/3 innings pitched -; he hadn't allowed more than four runs (which he only did once) in any previous start this season. Pittsburgh's offense isn't a bad one, but it's far from a juggernaut. [...]
Steven Matz Fails To Continue Success In Colorado rotoballer.com Thu 6/21/18 6:55 PM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz has really seemed to turn his career around in 2018, but he could not keep the good times rolling in Colorado against the Rockies on Thursday. Matz was hit hard to the tune of five earned runs on eight hits and two walks across 5 2/3 innings pitched, striking out six in the process. The silver lining here is that the bad outing was easily Matz's worst of 2018. It marks only the second time this season he's allowed four runs or more, and he still owns a[...]
Steven Matz Pushed To Saturday Due To Blister rotoballer.com Thu 6/14/18 6:37 AM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz has been dealing with a blister on his left middle finger. As such, instead of starting on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks as originally scheduled, he'll now take the hill on Saturday. Jason Vargas, who was supposed to be skipped this turn through the rotation, will take Matz's place on Thursday. Hopefully, the issue is a short-term one for Matz and doesn't cause him any difficulties moving forward. He's really come into his own from May onw[...]
Steven Matz Solid In Loss Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 6/3/18 12:16 PM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz pitched well enough to win Sunday, but his offense didn't come through for him. Matz went seven innings giving up two runs on five hits and two walks Sunday against the Cubs. He also struck seven batters out. Matz has actually been a pretty solid pitcher over the last month sporting a 2.32 ERA with three quality starts in that span. Though he isn't a must start or even must add at the moment, his recent success is encouraging and he should be owned in [...]
Steven Matz To Undergo MRI On Finger rotoballer.com Wed 5/30/18 6:46 AM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz left Tuesday's start against the Atlanta Braves with a finger injury, and on Wednesday he'll be undergoing an MRI. Specifically, Matz injured his left middle finger. X-Rays came back negative on Tuesday, but the Mets obviously want to get a closer look at what's plaguing the southpaw. Matz was pitching well prior to his exit, allowing no runs and one hit in three innings pitched. He walked two and struck out two. [...]
Steven Matz Exits Tuesday Start With Finger Issue rotoballer.com Tue 5/29/18 6:08 PM
Updating a previous report, New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz exited Tuesday's start against the Atlanta Braves. Matz only ended up pitching three innings before exiting the game, and while there's no conclusive evidence as to what his injury is right now, it's being described as a possible blister or fingernail issue. Stay posted for more updates on Matz when more information is released about the severity of his injury.
Steven Matz Exits With Injury rotoballer.com Tue 5/29/18 6:07 PM
New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz left his start against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night with what is being reported as an apparent finger issue. Matz was off to a strong start in this one, allowing just a single hit in three innings before his forced departure. He walked two and struck out a pair prior to leaving. It was shaping up to be a similar start to what Matz has done recently; not allowing many runs, but not striking anybody out, either. It's unclear if Matz is going to mis[...]
