Kolek (3-3) took the loss against Washington on Monday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek managed to get through three scoreless frames before things fell apart for him in the fourth. In that inning, he gave up four runs on four hits, and he hurt himself with a throwing error at the start of the frame. Kolek came out for the fifth, but he exited with one out after giving up a single to CJ Abrams, who eventually came around to score. The 4.1 innings tied a season low for Kolek, and both instances have come over his past three starts. Over that stretch, he's given up 11 earned runs across 15 frames.

Kolek allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek made it through four scoreless frames before the Dodgers tagged him for three runs in the fifth. The right-hander hung around for a scoreless sixth and even remained in the game for the start of the seventh, though he exited after allowing two of the first three batters he faced to reach base in that frame. Kolek was in line for the loss at the time of his departure, but San Diego got him off the hook with a pair of runs in the ninth inning. The quality start was the third of the campaign for Kolek and his first since May 22. He's at a tolerable 3.59 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 37:19 K:BB through nine starts spanning 52.2 frames on the campaign.

Kolek (3-2) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.1 innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek had come away with a pair of no-decisions in his last two outings despite covering 11.1 scoreless innings in that stretch. He had some trouble with the Diamondbacks, including allowing two solo home runs, and a rally in the fifth inning was enough to knock him from the game at 82 pitches (52 strikes). Kolek is now at a 3.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings over eight starts this season. His next start is projected to be on the road versus the Dodgers.

Kolek didn't factor in the decision against Milwaukee on Saturday, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and issued four walks while striking out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek struggled with his control, as he threw just 51 of 88 pitches for strikes and issued a season-high four free passes. However, the right-hander didn't allow any extra-base hits and let just one Brewer get to third base. This was the second straight start in which Kolek finished with exactly 5.2 scoreless frames, and he's now gone 15.1 innings since last giving up a run. Kolek has been a solid asset for the Padres since moving into the rotation in early May, posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.24 WHIP despite a mediocre 29:16 K:BB across 42 frames.

Kolek allowed three hits and issued two walks while striking out three batters over 5.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek struggled in the first two innings, allowing five baserunners and working out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the second. He settled in nicely after that, yielding just one additional hit. The right-hander couldn't quite manage a quality start -- he was pulled with two outs in the fifth after having thrown 98 pitches -- but he bounced back nicely after surrendering six runs over 5.1 frames against Miami in his previous outing. Kolek has held down a spot in the Padres' rotation with a 3.47 ERA through 36.1 frames, and he's projected for a road matchup against Milwaukee in his next start.

Kolek (3-1) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Kolek was terrible in the first inning, which is when he allowed all six runs. He allowed just three more baserunners on a hit, a walk and an error over the last 4.1 innings of his start, and the Padres' comeback effort rewarded him with a win. He was able to avoid giving up a home run for the fourth time in five starts, but he's been tagged for 15 runs (14 earned) over his last three outings. Kolek is now at a 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings this season. He is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco.

Kolek did not factor into the decision during Thursday's 7-6 extra-innings loss against the Blue Jays. He went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
After a clean first two starts in which he didn't allow a run, Kolek has now surrendered eight earned runs over his last two starts spanning 11 innings. Regardless, the 28-year-old has certainly delivered all that's been asked of him as the Padres continue to bide time before the return of veteran Yu Darvish (elbow). Kolek's ERA is up to 2.84 following Thursday's quality start.

Kolek (2-1) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
After blanking the Pirates and Rockies over 14.1 innings in his first two starts since being promoted at the beginning of May, the 28-year-old right-hander ran into trouble against a much better offense Friday. Kolek saw the first pitch he threw ripped down the right-field line for a solo shot by J.P. Crawford, and two-run homers by Rowdy Tellez in the fourth inning and Cal Raleigh in the sixth accounted for the rest of the damage off him. Kolek will take a 2.33 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB through his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Toronto.

Kolek (2-0) earned the win against Colorado on Saturday, tossing a nine-inning complete game shutout during which he allowed five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies are now 6-33 on the season, so Kolek's competition wasn't the stiffest, but this was nonetheless a very impressive performance by the former reliever in his second career MLB start. The right-hander was efficient enough (he tossed 104 total pitches) to go the distance while San Diego's offense supported him with a massive 21-run outburst. Kolek began the season in the minors but has shined since being called up May 4, tossing 14.1 scoreless frames with an 11:4 K:BB across two starts. He appears to have locked himself into a rotation spot with the Padres, and his next start is lined up to be a matchup at home against Seattle next week.

Kolek is listed as the Padres' probable starter for Saturday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.
EDGE Analysis
Unsurprisingly, Kolek will get a second turn through the rotation after he blanked the Pirates over 5.1 scoreless innings in his first start of the season Sunday. The right-hander will likely continue to hold down a spot in the rotation at least until the Padres get Yu Darvish (elbow) back from the injured list.
