The 34-year-old right-hander now sports a 3.96 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP and 179:36 K:BB across 25 starts (147.2 innings). Gray's currently lined up to face the Brewers on the road in his next outing.

EDGE Analysis
Gray allowed six earned runs for the second time this season with five of those runs coming by way of two home runs off the bat of Spencer Steer. The other run allowed also came via the long ball as Elly De La Cruz followed Steer's two-run blast in the third with a solo dinger of his own. It was the third time this season Gray has allowed at least three homers in the same game. The outing lifted his ERA to 3.93 with a 1.08 WHIP over 130.2 innings while the nine strikeouts lifted his season total to 162, good for 10th best in all of baseball. Gray did not factor into the decision in Thursday's loss to the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was efficient during his time on the mound, throwing 19 of his 26 first pitches for strikes while inducing 15 swings and misses. The right-hander allowed one run to come across in the second after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the frame, and later coughed up a solo homer to Seiya Suzuki in the sixth. It actually marked the first time in Gray's last six starts that he didn't allow at least three runs, as he had surrendered five runs in each of his previous two outings. Gray has also now posted six or more strikeouts in seven consecutive starts.

EDGE Analysis
Gray gave up at least one run in three separate innings and never really settled in against the Nationals. He's given up at least three runs in five straight outings, posting a brutal 6.67 ERA during that span. On the bright side, he also turned in a strong 35:5 K:BB during those five starts. This rough patch has driven Gray's season ERA up from 2.81 to 3.79 across 111.2 frames. His next outing is lined up to be at home against Texas.

Gray (10-6) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader split with Atlanta, giving up five runs on eight hits -- including four home runs -- over seven innings. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals' offense gave Gray plenty of support in a 9-5 victory, so his issues keeping the ball in the park didn't come back to bite him. The veteran right-hander had served up only four homers over his last 11 outings combined, so the sudden gopheritis likely isn't going to be a long-term concern. Gray will carry a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and stellar 131:24 K:BB through 106.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Nationals.

The 34-year-old righty owns a 3.34 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 99.2 innings on the season, though he has given up 11 earned runs over 16.1 innings across his last three starts.
